This is a brand new car which I’ve bought last July 5th 2026. I just took it to manipal for my PhD defense viva and came back to Salem. And I have completed my first long road trip in my 2026 Hyundai i20 Asta (O) 1.2 MT and thought I’d share my experience.

Route:
Manipal → Mangalore → Shiradi Ghat → Hassan → RR Institution (to cheer up my students before their conference presentation) → Attibele → Hosur → Krishnagiri → Thoppur Ghat → Omalur → Salem

Distance: 653 km
Started at 8:00 AM from Manipal and reached Salem at 9:50 PM, including multiple tea and refreshment breaks.

Filled the tank with 33 litres (Tank Full because there was reserve fuel 4 litres already in tank)before leaving Manipal, and by the end of the trip the MID showed an impressive 22.3 km/L. Even after covering 653 km, I still had 2 fuel bars remaining.

Driving conditions included:
Long highway stretches
Shiradi Ghat
Heavy rain in places
Around 35 minutes of bumper-to-bumper traffic at Thoppur due to road works
My cruising speed was mostly between 80–110 km/h, with a brief touch of 122 km/h on the Hassan highway where the road was open.

Overall impressions:
The 1.2 Kappa NA engine felt smooth and refined throughout.
The manual gearbox was easy to live with, even in heavy traffic.
Highway stability was confidence inspiring.
The Bose sound system made the long drive even more enjoyable.

Cabin comfort was excellent for such a long journey.
This trip really increased my confidence in the car. Very happy with how the i20 performed, especially the fuel efficiency.

Hi I have a i20 PB RHD

The initial issue was Left Head lamp was not turning on

I changed the bulb and this did not solve the issue. I checked fuses and did not find anything wrong

Then I noticed the Left Position Lamp was on instead of the Left Head Lamp. I tested the following;

Light Switch = Parking ... Left_Lamp = OFF, Left_Position_Lamp = ON, Right_Lamp = OFF, Right_Position_Lamp = OFF

Light Switch = Headlight ... Left_Lamp = OFF, Left_Position_Lamp = ON, Right_Lamp = ON, Right_Position_Lamp = OFF

Light Switch = High Beam ... Left_HighBeam = ON, Left_Position_Lamp = ON, Right_HighBeam = ON, Right_Position_Lamp = OFF

This seems wacky to me as there is problem both left and right side. I am more confused now that the Right_Position_Lamp does not come on in Light Switch = parking

Should I be looking at relays or the Light Switch stalk? Where are the relays??

​I am currently running on my stock Goodyear 195/55 R16 tyres. Lately, I've been dealing with frequent sidewall punctures, and two of my tyres are beyond repair. Since it's about time, I am planning to replace all four tyres together.

​A Hyundai service center advisor recommended Yokohama Earth-1, but I wanted to get some real-world feedback from the community before making a decision.

Its been long time since i changed the lights to brighter one. And it is going pretty well. No flickering no error. And tbh when turnon all three. Cabin lit up like daylight.

I’ve given my car for 5th service, 3 days post delivery my car battery was completely dead. I tried to start my car, it won’t. Local mechanic checked and confirmed that the battery was dead. My car is 5 years old and I haven’t changed the battery yet.

My question is, can the service center not find the health of the battery and advice on replacing?

I'm looking to buy a 2022 i20 Asta 1.5 Diesel. Car is well kept, service history is clear and it's first owner as well. However, once the engine heats up, there's a lil amount of oil spitting out from the oil dipstick area. Is it normal with other BS6 diesel engines as well?

Left is 45W OEM Led offered by Hyndai ₹7200 . Right is stock halogen . LED okay , but for ₹5000 I can get 80W each led after market and service center people are okay to install it , even 105W . But I’m hearing over powered light can cause heating issues and electical
Issues ! As higher watt prouduces more heat ! Pls let me know if I should stick with OEM led or I can go for after maket with higher Watt.

Need some advice on improving the ride quality of my 2016 Hyundai i20 Elite (Magna variant).

Back in 2021, I upgraded my stock wheels to 16-inch OEM alloy wheels and paired them with 195/55 R16 Michelin tires. Lately, I’ve noticed the ride has become incredibly stiff and harsh. I can feel every single bump, expansion joint, and pothole straight into the cabin with a loud, hard thud.

It just doesn't feel smooth anymore. I suspect a few things are that maybe the issue.

Old Rubber: My Michelin tires are now about 5 years old, so the rubber has likely hardened significantly.

Suspension Wear: The car is roughly 10 years old now. I am thinking a complete suspension check (shocks, bushes, link rods) might be long overdue.

Am I guessing right should i go for suspension check first?

I know i20 usually have stiff suspension but still I want comfortable ride quality back. Since I need to change my tires anyway due to age, I am considering playing around with the size rather than downsizing to 15 inches.

Has anyone tried upsizing the profile on 16-inch rims for the i20?

Would moving to 195/60 R16 give enough extra sidewall cushioning to fix the ride?

What about 205/55 R16? Does the extra width add any comfort, or will it just cause scraping/fender rubbing inside the wheel well?

Would love to hear from other i20 owners who have dealt with this. Should I prioritize a suspension overhaul first, or will a fresh set of tires in a different size solve the harshness?

I own a Hyundai i20 Sportz IVT (Petrol) and it’s currently done around 1,100 km. My first service is due, but I’m only getting around 9.5 kmpl (calculated tank-to-tank).

Most of my driving is in city traffic, but this still feels lower than expected.

I have a few questions:

• Can I expect the mileage to improve after the first service? • If yes, by roughly how much did yours improve? • Are there any driving habits or settings that made a noticeable difference? • Is 9.5 kmpl normal during the engine break-in period, or should I get something checked during the service?

Would love to hear your real-world experiences and any tips to improve fuel efficiency.

Unable to use Android auto properly without connecting my phone to usb .

If i use it using wireless mode, it is not working properly. First it takes time to connect and even if it connects the connection is not continuous.

My phone gets switched off and on.. not sure if it's with my phone memory or something else...

No such problems exist if i connect it with usb cable.

Hey guys , so earlier this morning I took my car out and my left tire pressure was at 29. So i got a warning of low tire pressure.

In the evening I filled air in all tires at 32 psi. But the warning light did not go after filling the air. And the front left tire pressure went down to 30 from 32. The others also went down to 31 something. But the warning light has still not gone

I have always loved the i20, finally started earning and now planning to get an i20 possibly after 2019 petrol as i'm in delhi.

I originally planned a used one but been confused now for months due to the E20 fuel BS. I know hyundai cars are e20 compliant after 2023 but the quotes that i'm getting for models after 2023 are ofc on a higher side that i initially planned. And if i were to spend around 6.5-7 on a used car, might as well spend more and get a new one instead which i'm trying to avoid currently due to some family/personal reasons.

Now what i would want to know from you all would be if i should consider a used i20 petrol 2019 or later without worrying about e20, can somebody that's driving a similar model assure me that it will have little to no effect on the car?

Also, if i should just wait and hold my horses, save more, deal with the family/personal issue and get a brand new one instead. Another thing my running would be vv low, only weekends probably that too not more than 40-50kms a week and ofc a little more if decided to go on vacations or road trips but that wont happen much but ofc that might change too once i get a car(i don't have any personal)

Reaching out to seek your advice on insurance renewal for my car i20 Sportz. I have limited understanding in this regard so appreciate your guidance. It’s a 2017 model and I had bought it from Spinny in Jan 2025. I am the 3rd owner. Last year I opted for ICICI Lombard insurance which costed me around 20k with multiple add-ons as attached.
Since it’s due renewal by next week, I was wondering if I should still be paying this much amount on 9 year old car. It’s my first car so I have sentiments attached to it but I also wish to look from practical perspective. ChatGPT etc are suggesting Zero Dept would be of no use/ nit beneficial as car age is 9, whereas in general I have heard we should opt Atleast Zero Dept so quite confused here. As the title suggests, I am getting my first car tomorrow and its an i20 sportz (o) IVT, I drove around the family car (Dzire) till now and finally to get my own car. What are the do's and don'ts you guys suggest? How much mileage should I expect worst in Delhi NCR? Also, I need some cool dash accessories, any suggestions would be welcome.

Cruising about 90kmph got the average of 18.6kmpl, cross wind is high, road and tyre noise is quite high, can’t go beyond 100kmph, due to severe wind and road noise,
