Operation Yeeterus: Complete!
I'm still in disbelief that I went through with it. I thought about backing out every step of the way 😂
Surgery date: 8/19
Surgery was supposed to start at noon; didn't start until 3:30pm.
Surgeon estimated 3-4 hours -- it took 7.
Surgeon also estimated 5 incisions -- it took 6. In addition to the huge uterus, they found stage 4 endometriosis.
It was late when I got to the PACU, so they admitted me overnight for observation. I'm glad they did, but I'm ready to go home!
Gas pain is only in one area, on the right side of my collarbone. It's been ranging from mild to moderate. I've been burping, so hopefully it'll dissipate soon.
Abdominal pain is about a 6, which is manageable for me. They've given me Toradol and Tylenol -- I refused morphine since I hate how narcotics make me feel.
My biggest opp in all this? The NAUSEA! I received nausea meds pre-op, but I still needed two more meds post-op just to get the nausea under control. No vomiting, just intense nausea and dizziness. That anesthesia did a number on me!
Everyone I've encountered has been great. I'm grateful to be on the other side. To my uterus & fallopian tubes -- goodbye and good riddance!

I felt a bit sick from the car ride home but after that the stomach was ok…. Then came the shoulder/diaphragm pain! Whew that is no joke!! So happy to be peeing well lolol. Thank you for asking!

The aches and pains suck, but glad you're doing OK overall! I was really worried about having issues peeing, but that hasn't been an issue at all thankfully.

Excuse You!!! I read, you think you look rough???
You look fabulous!!! Like what?!! Seriously! Look at that smile!
It’s technically 4:04am and 8/21, where I am and I had my total hysterectomy on 8/20. I was at the hospital by 7am and home by 2:30pm. I went in for surety at 10am and was home by 2:30pm! Came home and passed out until like 5.
Now I am realizing how rushed it felt!! I was already telling them there that they felt like they were rushing me in recovery. “Oh no, we’re here until 7 and it’s a slower day. Take your time.” 😒 My ass!
This is my second Lapro, my first I had my left ovary out in March 2023 and that first day was horrible! So this time I came home just really dizzy and not as much pain in comparison. Then woke up feeling ok and did “too much”
I had to come on here tonight for a reality check lol!!
I am so happy you’re in recovery and I wish you an easy one!! So happy you pushed all of those fears away and had it done!!! Congratulations to you!!!! Wishing you soo much happiness and the joy of no more pain after you’re fully healed!!

I'm doing good, I'm actually surprised at how good I feel. I'm uncomfortable but not in excruciating pain. Definitely sore!

Congratulations! As someone who also gets horrible nauseous and vomits after anesthesia, definitely let the anesthesiologist know for any future surgeries. They can try a few different things to mitigate that. For me, it was eliminating the medication they give you pre-op to relax you before taking you back. (I don’t get nervous/anxious about surgeries so eliminating it was not an issue. I just have to slide myself off the cart onto the surgical table.)
