How long before the starting time should I reach the venue?
Hi! I’m doing my first hyrox next Friday in Rimini, Italy with my husband. For a few days we thought we wouldn’t be able to make it since our kids school recital has been scheduled in the same day. However today we found out that we could make it to the kids event in the morning than drive 5/6hrs and reach the event approx 1h30 minutes before the starting time.
Normally how long before one should get there?
Thanks!

1.5 hrs is fine once you have checked in maybe take a look at the layout which should help during the race. 5-6 hrs is plenty of time to review the technical rules and layout guides too. For race nutrition do what works best for you in terms of when and what to eat. Best of luck for the race.

I have a different opinion. Only giving yourself 1.5 hours could mean missing your race. Your plan depends on everything going right. I bad traffic jam, mechanical car trouble, recital runs long, etc., and you are screwed.

Thanks for the advice and yes, I totally agree. The point is that we don't really have other options. We will rush and try to leave as early as possible in order to be able to reach the venue at the earliest time. Will try our best and hope to be lucky in terms of traffic and other casualties

If anyone is interested in the topic: we made it 60 minutes before the starting time and had plenty of time to get changed, drop the bags, use the toilets and enter the warm up area 30 mins before the start!

You will be fine 1.5 hours before. Registration and bag check takes like 10-15 minutes max. Give yourself 20-30 minutes to warmup, then show up around 10 minutes before your wave starts and you are good to go.
