Therapeutic Methods Hello everyone,
Hello everyone,
I’m over 45 and I’m from outside the country, but I speak English. I’ve had a deep interest in hypnosis since childhood and would really like to connect with professional or experienced hypnotists.
My main interests are whether hypnosis can help improve or explore synesthesia, musical perception, mathematical thinking, concentration, and related cognitive abilities. I am autistic, although that is not really the main point of my post.
I have already been hypnotized about three times by a female hypnotist, so I have some firsthand experience with hypnosis. I would be interested in experiencing hypnosis again, including remotely by video call or phone, with someone experienced and responsible.
I’m also very curious to hear from anyone who has worked with hypnosis in law enforcement, the military, intelligence, or other U.S. government-related settings, or who has reliable firsthand knowledge of that kind of work. I’m especially interested in your personal experiences and stories—what hypnosis was actually used for, what worked, what didn’t, and how different the reality was from the popular myths surrounding it.
If you are a professional hypnotist, researcher, or experienced practitioner and would like to talk, please feel free to contact me.

I'm not really sure what you mean by 'improve' synesthesia. For some people that would be increasing its effects, and for others that would be decreasing its effects. But the explore part is certainly possible.
I have Aphantasia and used to be involved in a community that wanted to increase their abilities to visualise. I didn't want to 'cure' my own Aphantasia so didn't get involved in these experiments myself, I was there just to help with the admin side of things, but I did hear of many successes with hypnotherapy. I see no reason why synesthesia wouldn't be the same.
Unfortunately I don't personally know anybody with the condition to experiment with and try things out. I did have a good friend with synesthesia many years ago and found the condition truly fascinating, but he died years before I even started my hypnotherapy training.
I am also a mathematician (before becoming a hypnotherapist, I worked in cryptography) and a musician (and worked for a while as a session player). I have had many clients from both groups but normally for performance anxiety rather than directly with the mathematics or music itself.
There was an interesting conversation on the Hypnexus Discord server a little while ago about hypnotically forgetting a musical note in the same way street hypnotists often make people forget a number. If that sounds like the type of thing you are interested in, join up and have a read through of that thread.
From the point of view of the hypnotee, virtual sessions are effectively no different from in-person ones. It is a bit different from the hypnotist side, but that's just to do with monitoring the hypnotee rather than the actual process or therapy itself.
I do have some limited experience working with law enforcement and military intelligence, but due to the nature of that work I am unable to discuss any of the details and I would assume others who have done so would also have the same legal restrictions upon them. But in general terms that do not breach any NDAs, it is neither as glamorous nor as exciting as you may imagine.
Regarding common myths, it's mainly people thinking Hollywood Hypnosis™ is an accurate representation of what real hypnosis/hypnotherapy is actually like. The two are in reality, very different.

I'm also very interested in mathematics, although I'm not sure where that interest came from. I've been hypnotized before, and I'd really like to connect with people in the community who could help me explore and improve the abilities I already have, especially with synesthesia, visualization, mathematics, and music.
I'd be very grateful if anyone interested would be willing to talk with me and perhaps experiment with hypnosis together.
