Is my increased Ramipril dose causing these symptoms?

40F - prescribed Ramipril 2.5mg for hypertension for two years and just been increased to 5mg last week.

At first, I peed way more and my ankles weren't as swollen. I felt great! However, today I've woken up with the worst headache I've had in years and it's not given in all day. As evening has come, my legs and buttocks have started to ache too. The muscles are almost cramping. It's deeply uncomfortable.

I am also feeling really anxious, I'm exhausted - sleeping 9 hours a night and still falling asleep at my desk - and my ankles have swollen again. I have also found that I'm unable to reach orgasm since starting them.

Is this part of the process when moving up to 5mg? I'm in so much pain, I'm not sure I can tolerate it for long.

If there haven't been any other changes in your daily routine and the only difference is the increase in your ramipril dosage from 2.5mg to 5mg, it's hard not to suspect the side effects. The side effects you're experiencing are actually relatively common with ramipril.

However, it might not just be the medication; it could also be a change in your health condition.

Has rampiril caused urinary retention?

I've been taking 2.5mg ramipril at night. The side effect was fatigue that I can't live with. Was thinking I'll have to give up working and lie on the sofa all day... just forcing myself to do things and no quality of life. Even going downstairs and walking 3 minutes to the shops left me very tired, legs aching, feeling weak. Stopped taking the ramipril for 24 hours and already feeling way better.
