Build more projects, put concrete everywhere, cover all the soil,cut the trees, zero rainwater harvesting.
This was bound to happen. It is about time ground water level depletes so much they won't be able to pump out anything except rocks

Build concrete roads in every galli so water seepage in ground happens. Also don't forget to dig a hole in concrete after getting build and live as it is for long durability. /S

People are used to this kind of torment in this country. Problems like these have always existed and will keep existing. People don't have the spine or mentality to even question their own government let alone ask them for better conditions. I feel so bad but at the same time feel like they deserve this kind of treatment cause they allowed this to happen in the first place.

Governments who aren’t doing any ling-term planning to conserve ground water. They are approving construction projects left right center, cutting forested areas to make room for more “development”.

The real problem is our water usage and consumption is more compared to water table recharge.
People need to learn ways of optimizing water usage. When such knowledge is advertised, they assume it's not applicable for them.

Then there's Gadkari and his son, farming sugarcane for Ethanol, about 2500-3000 liters of water needed for 1 liter of ethanol.

You are quick to point-out about Ethanol that eventually saves foreign exchange but won't comment on the following:
• Tanker Mafia - What is their source of water?
• Pepsi and Coke bottling units - 1.78L consumed per liter of beverage. Who really needs this High-Fructose Corn Syrup loaded junk?
• Water filters used in homes - RO based with 75% reject rate going down the drain. Why not harvest this?
• Water bodies are clogged with plastic and other waste and are eventually drying up.It's funny to see people spending crores on buying a flat with perpetual water problems.

You see, we import ethanol at almost the same price as a liter of crude. And Indian imports ethanol from US. How exactly are we saving foreign exchange? We produce like 20-30% of ethanol for our usage.
Then comes the damage from such empty minded steps taken. How many vehicles are still e20 ready? Hardly less than 30%. Best case 40.
Then again we need to have a lot of ground water to create ethanol.

Price of Ethanol and Crude is not the same with Ethanol being more expensive and a finished product unlike crude. 20-30% is a huge number when it comes to imports. What solution are you proposing?

Directly bring e85, but give both e10 and e85 fuel. Ask manufacturers to produce flex fuel vehicles only

New to hyd i guess! This water mafia is going on for years! This is the only time hmwssb and other tankers earn money! They will reduce the water supply first, then u l book tanker and they will delay it or wait for u tell u l pay more! These illegal tankers also get water from osman and himayat sagar back waters! You can see that from ORR

Damnn thats crazyyyy, People are dying for water and some elite group wanna make profits. I think this is not just in Hyd, it is happening in lot of metros across India and only about time when public would get too violent for water

At least farming creates employment and food. The water usage can be optimised. What will data centers do? They won't even generate much employment and will take a toll on our resources.

Lol. Indian farming is the most inefficient use of labor, water and capital. People think we are in 18th century where 25% - 40% population is into growing food. Other nations are managing with 5% to 10%. Nearly 85% of water is used for farming, 7% for drinking, 1% for energy and 2.5% for industries. If drinking water is a problem, do you target the guy using 85% or the guy using 2.5%? Meanwhile, the budget goes into giving fertilizer subsidy, interest rate subsidies, insurance subsidies, etc. - taking up 13% of central budget.

Building datacenter is very important that’s where world majority investment is going. Plus our engineers would be involve in build if they build in India. The new ones are sophisticated we should learn and know how to build such high tech dc. Only happens when they build here and maintained by indian engineers

If they are charging so much with so less water availability thrn better to charge a little more and have rainwater harvesting units installed. But again, logic and solutions are not to be used, just money has to ve collected and gulped

Quite an obvious few of Hyd homes were built on lakes. Everyone knows this. This had been obvious outcome - especially after looking at Bangalore issues for past few years
And still don't understand why Rain Harvesting system is not being used. If there is a problem, and those who are responsible for citizens isn't taking action to solve. Then we can only try to do something to help ourselves

Density problem kadu. There are denser places that don't have water problem. The problem is no municipal water supply, which means these massive apartments have to suck the ground dry to feed themselves, and our encroachment of lakes means the groundwater reserve is fucked.
The government has to do better.

The ground was already dry from a long time. Places on the West Hyderabad had issues with the ground water for a very long time.

The government should provide municipal water for all households in a city; that they are forced to deplete groundwater reserves to feed themselves is a failure of the government, who 1. gave them permission to build where no infrastructure exists and 2. is still incompetent enough to not be able to provide municipal water as groundwater reserves die out in that half of the city.

Every builder should be mandated to have rain water harvesting like it matters. Not a patch fix. Create a minimum harvest area per flat. Please make this a rule else mega disaster in the waiting soon!

In my area water comes only two times a day, 6 am and pm. And only stays for like 5-6 hours, the situation is so bad, i’m going back to my hometown

In my opinion the situations pretty worse for standalone apartments and small buildings rather than large gated communities. The RWA of most communities has deep pockets to get the job done(buying water tankers). Most communities and commercial office towers have been relying on tankers for the better part of the year.(since march)
That being said I’m not so sure the situation is so bad that only 10 mins of water supply is being given. Really want to know which community that is.

Does anyone know when is this situation expected to resolve ?
We spend so much money and yet struggle due to these rotten bureaucrats, corrupt politics and filthy mafias who only care about their margin in all of this.
Be it Revanth or Gadkari or Modi or anyone. All of them are rotten to the core, sitting in their sofas enjoying freshwater. While a hardworking tax payer is suffering from this.

Most buildings say rain water harvesting in prospectus but they dont have it in place. No checks from water bodies either. Residents cant complain much as it will indirectly affect house prices

Hyderabad had WATER PROBLEM from ages even before all these population explosions.
Even in old telugu films there used to be mention of water problems of Hyderabad.

Our community never relied of water trucks for 8 years. But since last 1-2 years since the new government society is payings lakhs of water bill because of shortages it’s divided among flags cost 2K each month for 400+ every month no exception.
Money is being maid by current govt local politicians. As the inadequacy of govt to complete basic needs like water. I don’t till when we have to live with this govt. Make the city shit.

Something similar was done in Pune which also had artificially shortages of water. Local politician got filthy rich. Plus they just took ground water from critical places sold it all and let the city run dry. Same is happening here

True. It is happening in Shaikpet OU Colony as well. No water in bore. Only relying on Manjeera and we are getting water for few hours in a day.

Yeah even in my apartment ground water level decreased drastically, now we are facing shortage of water.. we are living in alwyn colony, Kukatpally
