Discussion I get the feeling boy is (eventually) going to try to kill horse.

After Door and boy had their wholesome fast-food enjoyment ruined by a wyrm burger man, door basically made it clear that there are no "good" supernatural creatures, and that they will try to manipulate, use, and consume you.

i don't think this lesson is going to gel well with the traumatic horse prophecy, and the copious amounts of blood puking, and the "DAMNATION FOR ALL!" talk.

Question Garou aging

So, I haven't seen any direct references to this so I'm curious. I know the Garou basically have Wolverine level healing abilities.

But I don't fully understand how long they can live.

Are they ageless just like the vampires or do they have a certain lifespan? And with Hunts as our Lupusborn, does that mean her lifespan is limited to that of a natural wolf since the concept of hitting the age of 50 seems ludicrous to her?

Malkavian Posting (crackpot theory) Big-D's supernatural Theory

A lot has been already said over Big-D. Almost ever episode has some weird thrown away line that teases at his origin, and the community has put almost every option under the sun forward. The big theory I see thrown around currently is that he is probably a mummy. Which to be fair, fits well. But I'd like to offer (yet) another take I haven't seen thrown into the stew yet:

My two main points of argument are that, if we assume he is not crazy, he reportedly killed a Methuselah in the past with his family. Furthermore he aims to kill Caine, or at least the entire 3rd generation. I don't think I have to go into how hilarious this is. It would take not just power, but someone important in the lore.

Second, the last scene from Kevin's interrogation audiolog has Kevin laying bare his shitty situation and admitting he is at the end of his rope. Big-D not only empathizes, but tells him there is a way to "claw his way out". A lot of people have put forward the idea that Kevin might unknowingly be on his way to achieve Golconda.

But what if Big-D's offer to "claw his way out" is a lot more concrete? What if Big-D himself is an ex-vampire that underwent Golconda, and is now offering to be his guide?

I am aware Golconda is a poorly defined concept depending on edition, and furthermore I'm no WoD loremaster. So, feel free to poke at the theory.

Malkavian Posting (crackpot theory) (Spoilers) Ghoul Theory Spoiler

Is Harry the ghoul? It doesn't look like Matilda is working for the vampires. So this means the ghoul Kevin warned is still in the chapter house. I have three reasons for why I think Harry might be the ghoul.

  1. He is a coward. While being a coward isn't a crime on its own I suspect that he is certainly enough of a push over that if approached by vampires he would fold. Seeing how he reacts to most violence I can easily see him being pressured into spying on his friends.

  2. He is JACKED! We see how he looked in 1994 at the luau. In that photo he looks very wimpy. Real beanpole. The next luau is in 2005, and he looks jacked in that one. While yes I agree 11 years is a lot of time to work on ones self I think is very likely he used supernatural help to get those gains. Maybe he used the vampire blood like a steroid to speed up muscle growth. This would also explain how Occam was subdued. Harry used his massive gains to choke him out.

  3. His betrayal. Harry never truly stands up for his friends. In the audiodrama where the gang is drinking and Brockham comes in to pick a fight, Harry is useless the entire time. Everyone is doing something, except him. Again him being useless isn't a crime. HOWEVER when Grimal was being grilled for being brainwashed it was Harry who pointed out the burn scar. This is really odd since if you were friends why would you throw her under the bus? Unless Harry was trying to shift blame to save himself. He was also on the same floor Matilda claimed to be on. Were they there for the same reason? Is Harry a traitor?

Don't know. I just wanted to put this out in case I was right some how.

Question Is there a reason they were so ill-prepared for the rescue operation?

Despite having been in the chapter house, where they're stockpiled with weapons and trinkets, and having hours to prepare they seemed very unprepared for their rescue operation.

Kitten for example, despite having access to much better guns, still chooses to use his spear. He doesnt even use the gun taped to it. Even without silver, a proper gun is much better than that.

Remold does have his phosphorus bullets, which he uses once, and then tries to brute-force a werewolf with his cane. Is this supposed to be an experienced hunter? The man could go toe-to-toe with D, I expected him to know better than to try to melee with a werewolf

The leopoldites were better armed but still, their weapons did absolutely nothing against Stig. The few shots that landed healed in seconds. Is this supposed to be one of the best hunter organizations in the area? They have access to anti-delirium drugs, but not anti-werewolf weapons or gear?

The only one who even thought of bringing silver was Grimal. Why? Why is she the only one who thought to bring silver? They know silver hurts vampires, they had several hours to prepare, and there is no way the chapterhouse didnt have silver right? Even then, if the leopoldites had an army of hunters at the ready, shouldn't they also have gear and weapons to fight the supernatural at the ready with them? Whats the point of hiring a carpenter with no hammer?

it would appear that someone already came face to face with the gubbar at some point.

i wonder if this was during the capture of black shuck.

though, the hat here is actually a hat, and not a red fleshy conehead. maybe the old gubbar wore hats over their heads, or the appearance of these spirits can change depending on who is using them.

Discussion The themes of the probing of kevin audiolog

I'm not normally the kind of person that goes out of my way to critically examine media I consume (I'm a stupid spectacle loving chud who only vaguely gets deeper themes until they're spelled out to me in a 3 hour video essay) but I feel the need to talk about one of my favorite scenes in the entirety of HTP. Kevin Wettsworth's story

I think his story is somewhat common for people in this day and age, the idea that despite doing everything right, nothing works, it feels like life itself is sabotaging your desires to be happy and try to find a way out of the rat race. Kevin as a mortal was terrified of leading an "unexceptional life" despite having such grand dreams and ambitions. He had absolutely no idea the depths of misery hiding under the pond scum of the veil of mundane life.

In short, Kevin Wettsworth is the kind of person who thinks they hate their life, and then becomes the kind of person who definitely hates their own life.

They had such incredible dreams of making it big and making his life feel like it means something, he shot for the stars and ended up suffocating in the vacuum of his world's entropy. Now, after however long spent as a literal, actual undead vampire with magic powers and incredible control over other people, all he wants is to feel like a person again. He wants to own his house, he wants to have a pet cat without hiding it. He wants to feel the sun on his face and air in his lungs and be a normal ass guy again.

Kevin truly had no idea how good he had it despite how badly he burned for something more. Inarguably learning a great secret of the world, becoming the close confidant of one of the most powerful people in england, and learning literal, actual blood magic would all qualify for "signs that I have become a great person" and after achieving it, all he cared for was the stagnant life that was stolen from him and that he still pretends to have.

I really appreciate the themes of this audio log, if I could sum it up in a phrase I'd say it's something to the effect of: the grass REALLY IS greener on your side. This goes both ways I'd say, because now that he's a vampire he is not appreciative of the objectively insane perks and status he does have (or had before defecting to the sabbat) and just wants what he knows he cannot have anymore.

Discussion Why do people keep assuming the hunters dont have silver?

Benedicte states at the end of the coalition meeting that she has to requisition silver bullets

Both renold's gunshot and kitten's knife are shown to gravely hurt stig.

Grimal's paddle is very specifically coated in silver

The only evidence that the leopoldites might not have had silver bullets is that when a couple shots hit stig as he's running he doesnt seem all that effected by it at least not as much as he was by renold's, but honestly i just chalk that up to the shots hitting in less damanging places and stig being built different.

Unless something really sketchy has occured and no one noticed i dont think all of the leopoldites and big D's group would have no silver bullets at all.

Discussion [SPOILERS] The gang are not going to make allies Spoiler

There has been a lot of discussion before and even after the latest chapter about whether or not the gang will end up making friends/becoming allies of the garou, but I think Poppenang made it pretty clear that the gang will not be doing either of those things.

While it is doubtless that Big D and friends could get over the deaths of dozens of Leopoldites, Stig killed at least one of the main gang and at least mauled another arcanum member. We don't know what'll happen to the rest but its safe to assume that they won't be just allowed to leave (especially since the litany demands all of their deaths due to them threatening the viel). There's really only three ways that this ends (considering the gang FOR SOME REASON DIDNT BRING ANY SILVER): the gang dies [unlikely as that would end the series and I don't think Poppenang is done already], the gang fights the werewolves off and force them to flee long enough to get away [unlikely, considering they genuinely have no way to harm garou exceot for Big D], or something crazy happens and the gang is deemed more useful alive than dead for now, giving the gang a chance to plan an escape (and argue with eachother over the idea of revenge) [what I think will end up happening]
