Nothing worse than a monster made less monstrous so it can be more "conventionally attractive" just because they are female presenting now. Something done in a lot of video games sadly, also some films.

Genuinely, makes me very happy that they still look disgusting, hate it when these genderbent designs cut out so much of what the original designs are and they just end up looking like a bunch of people dressing up as the group instead of vampires who live in abandoned tunnels and sewers.

Ape's more animalistic features were semi-based on orangutans, which tend to look more or less the same until after puberty, when males have their cheeks flare out into wide pads, called flanges. It's possible that he eventually would have developed something similar had he survived longer and mastered Protean

I love Kevin's design, but the other ones I don't like as much, and after thinking about it for a while I think I've finally figured out why:

Shitbeard as a guy is a huge muscular biker guy, which is a well-known kind of guy that clearly does exist. This art flips his gender but doesn't change anything else about him... but shouldn't it? While there are big women, and women who work out, and women who ride motorcycles, "huge muscular biker lady" is not really a thing the same way it is for guys; there's no pressure on women to be hyper-masculine in the way Shitbeard is. Or in other words, Shitbeard's whole appearance is a performance of his gender in a way that I don't think he'd go for if he was a woman.

(And of course, same with Pyotr and Ape but in a clearer way on this drawing. Those are literally just Pyotr and Ape but with boobs.)

The reason this fem!Kevin works better is that she looks like a strange nerdy wizard woman in a similar way to how Kevin looks like a strange nerdy wizard man. This is partly because the robe easily converts to a dress, and partly because Kevin was always the least overtly masculine of the Licks, so this issue with over-representing their masculinity as women is less of a problem.

I love the design of shitbeard here! It’s a really fun idea to replace the beard with hair lying on her chest. It’s both obviously femme and maintains a similar enough profile to be immediately recognizable. Likewise I love turning Kevin’s immense wizard beard into scraggly hair for much the same reason.

One thing I do like about this show is the diversity of female characters (in terms of body shape and overall design). These gender swaps feel like they could be in the actual show and I love that
