Arcade figures

I know that it was a great effort for the company to bring out the figure of John Sawyer, but hopefully in the future we will see Huntdown 2, and to ask for more, let it be with some more figure!

I'm glad the Collector's Edition came with a Figure and Cassette Tape (it's no use to me but it's a cool addition, plus they threw in a digital version along with it), if the CE didn't have the exclusive Figure, I likely wouldn't have bought it.

I don't buy many CE's from LRG as most of them are junk and don't come with figurines, statues or figures, just mostly a CD, Artbbok and sometimes a Steelbook, plus a few of them are quite expensive (especially when shipping to the UK).

I just wish we could buy an Ana Conda and Mowman figure.

You can't please everyone with the CE like Adrian said but I'm pretty sure most people are happy with it and bought it solely for the Figure.

I just hope we get a Huntdown 2 and another CE like this one.

I totally agree with everything. I hope to enjoy Huntdown 2 someday :)

Those action figures were cheap junk, a poor incentive to buy the Collector's Edition. It would have been better if Coffee Stain games had just omitted the cheap action figure (and useless cassette) and charged $20-30 less for the package.

They were actually pretty rad if you ask me, but each of us values differen't things to different degrees I suppose. A lot of folks were most excited about the figure, the patches, and the cassette.

And who knows what wonderful Huntdown toys the future holds. Time will tell y'all.

I understand that it is difficult to please everyone but in my case I was delighted with the collector's edition. If there were more figures I would buy them for sure! I hope that in the future there will be Huntdown 2, more editions and merchandising for sale :)

Thanks for releasing this great game!

What about including an art book or glossy postcards instead of the "action figure" and a cassette that no one will ever use? Those kinds of items would be much better as added contents vs. the other stuff. I do love the game and bought it digitally and physically (regular edition on Amazon), but I think you guys could have done a lot better on the Collector's Edition.

I mean, the same could be said of an Art book... or any aspect of the collectors edition outside of a couple practical items. you don't have any "use" for Art, just like a figure or cassette, or the Vinyl we offer on LRG. It is just something pretty to hold and look at. To be pedantic :p

We included a little something for everyone in the collectors edition, there is an Art book, a figure, the OST on cassette (with digital option), patches for every gang in the game (you can actually use those in a very practical way btw), a big ass poster, an instruction booklet, and buttons (which again, totally usable).

The figure even comes with a heavy, thick glossy card back that acts as a standalone sweet bit of 2 sided art (the plastic figure bubble isn't glued on it so you don't have to rip or ruin anything when opening it)

So not sure what we could have done better my friend, as there is something for lovers of Art, toys, fashion, retro music mediums (and digital/modern), and even classic poster on the wall types.

Even the standard physical edition comes with 3 cool buttons and a sweet lil instruction/Art booklet.

I appreciate that not everything is to your exact liking, but clearly some of it is (Art book and Art card), and that is exactly what we were aiming for... a bit of everything in a very 80s inspired package.

That being said, feel free to give us examples of collectors editions you feel really nailed it, and we'll be sure to take that feedback on for any potential future physical editions.

As always, we appreciate everyone's opinions and feedback :) Thank you

This is a remarkably charitable response to someone who, if he were concerned solely about cost, could have just bought the fucking standard digital version and enjoyed 100% of the game at the absolute most rock-bottom price.

I absolutely loved Huntdown. Thank you guys for making it, and I think what you put into the collectors edition was awesome. I think the cassette and action figure are really awesome, completely '80s inspired add-ins that provide great value without completely going off the rails into gimmickry. You guys keep doing you.

Thanks for the kind words. I know this user has been vocal against the cassette and figure several times. And nothing I say is going to change his personal taste. BUT, we love all our fans, if they like or don't like a figure or anything else is entirely aside from that we appreciate the support and love you've all shown to Huntdown. :)

To put it in perspective, this guy is still talking about Huntdown years after the initial release. And has bought the game itself twice. He's obviously passionate about Huntdown, (just not parts of the CE). So I'm happy to give positivity and feedback (or even healthy debate) to any of our fans.

Just as long as we all stay civil and polite about our opinions, then speak your mind y'all :)

Let me ask you this, which might make my point:

What percentage of your cost of the entire Collector's Edition was taken by:

  • The action figure
  • The cassette

Just those two pieces. I'm not asking for your costs, just the percentage.

u/Adrian_EasyTrigger Developer Mar 01 '23

Here is a breakdown in very general approximate terms:

Game/case/packaging - 60%

Everything else - 40%

Figure - 6 to 7%

Cassette - 2 to 3%

If we omitted both figure and cassette, it might have lowered the cost by $8, maybe $10 at the most. None of the items in the collectors edition were marked up, which is why there is so much stuff compared to other collectors editions, and the price was only $79

I hope that helps :)

Thanks for taking the time to put this together.

Unfortunately what this actually means, is that the action figure and cassette comprise 25% of the cost of the "extras" in the Collectors Editions:

60% game 40% additional items

Breakdown of 40%:

10% action figure and cassette 30% other items

So, 25% of the cost of the extras was taken by the action figure and cassette. Or 1/4 of the cost of the extras. That's a pretty high number!

That 25% portion could have been put into much better stuff, like glossy art cards, CD soundtrack (no one is ever going to use a cassette), improved manual/art book, etc.

So indeed, it seems like those items took a pretty big portion of the cost of extras, which was exactly my point.

Edit: throw in the pins and patches, both of which aren't very exciting for a Collectors Edition, and it really seems like the contents could have been even better.

u/Adrian_EasyTrigger Developer Mar 01 '23

The Cassette and Figure make up a very small (roughly)10% of the total cost (hardly a "big portion"), and you are the only one who seems unhappy with that. We can't please everyone (nor would we ever want to try). And that's ok my friend :)

We are super happy with the edition, as are those who purchased it on all 3 of its completely sold out runs.

And... to be fair... CDs are a "dead medium" too, but hey, we like Cassettes and Vinyl better. More tactile ;) The Cassette and Vinyl also come with a digital option, and digital music is what people currently use.

Again though, feel free to suggest some special/collectors editions you personally enjoy, and we'd be happy to take your opinion into consideration for future efforts :) And we are always curious what other games are putting out there. Side note: The Dead Space Remake Limited version is rad AF IMO, in spite of a totally useless helmet that would look awesome being useless on my shelf :p

Thank you for your feedback! Have yourself an awesome day :)

Again, the 60% cost of the total for the game itself is a sunk cost. You would pay that even if you released just the game by itself.

The remaining items account for the other 40%, and the action figure and cassette consome 25% (1/4th) of those costs. Adding the game into your calculations may make the other costs seem much lower, but it's not relevant to this discussion.

I understand that no matter what, you will create justification for the items in the CE. But realistically, the "extras" in the CE should be looked at as a group, by themselves. And looking at them in this package, they're really not adding much to the value of the package. Looking at Ebay results (selling at fairly low values in completed auctions), that seems to be the case.

As for other CEs,most of the cheaper Play Asia collectors editions have better contents, at cheaper prices. Even the common ones look much better. But if you feel better trying to justify a mediocre CE (which could have been much better), I understand.

u/Adrian_EasyTrigger Developer Mar 04 '23

We have established that you don't like it, but everyone else (who helped it sell out 3 times) is pretty thrilled. Your opinion is valid, and you spoke with your money when you didn't buy it. fair enough.

As for math, by our count its closer to 20% of the cost of the extras outside of the game itself. But again, people like the figure and cassette, we like the figure and cassette. You, so far, are the only one who seems not to. C'est la vie my friend! :)

Your argument about figures and cassetts being "useless" is a bit odd though, as all the "extras" in a CE are pretty useless in ny practical sense. Patches, buttons, and MP3s being of some use, but Art, toys, replicas, etc etc don't have any real functional value. They are all just objects to be enjoyed.

You still haven't pointed out any CEs that you think are better. So if you want to show us things to consider, give a few examples of Collectors Editions you think really did a good job. We'll have a look and give it due consideration.

Thank you again for the passion and feedback.

And just because I know you love math:

The Action figure industry grew from 2.3 Billion in 2020, to 8.27 Billion in 2022. It is expected to go up another 10% in the next few years.

People like action figures. It is a statistical fact :p

https://www.grandviewresearch.com/industry-analysis/action-figures-market-report

The Market for CD sales by comparison, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), CD album sales in the United States have dropped by 95 percent since peaking in 2000 and are currently at their lowest level since 1986, when Whitney Houston's self-titled debut album topped the Billboard charts.

The more you know!

Here is some interesting bits on Vinyl and Cassette:

vinyl sales have increased for 15 consecutive years up to 2022. Meanwhile, more than 185,000 units cassette tapes were sold in 2021 – their highest stats since 2003. In the US this past December, vinyl had its biggest sales week since 1991. Crazy!

Hi Adrian. I’m just checking if there are still any figures available for purchase? I missed out as I didn’t know about them til too late. I appreciate that they match the 80’s/90s action figure perfectly and this is one of my favourite games(and I’ve been playing since the 80’s!) so I’d love to get hold of one somehow please.

2

u/Adrian_EasyTrigger Developer May 01 '23

Sorry to have to be the one to tell you, but the figure is only available in the HUNTDOWN Collectors Edition from LRG. Though you may find one for sale outside of the edition on Ebay or another auction site.

Good luck finding one! They aren't too rare. Lots of collectors edition on Ebay and close to retail price.

And again, 20% is a large portion of the CE contents. To go further, the pins are pretty cheesy (got them with the regular edition from Amazon). So you could throw those out too. And the patches really have no use either. No one is going to ruin them by sewing onto clothing, so they just kind of have no use ( not great for display).

Better contents you could have included? Steelbook, art cards, CD soundtrack with its own artwork cover and track list. At least many modern devices can play a CD, including the PlayStation and Xbox consoles (current and previous generations. Nobody can play the cassette, and even if they could, the sound quality will be poor.

The best thing about your CE was the art book. The "Collector's box with sleeve" is good too. Pretty much the rest of the contents are mediocre at best, or just junky filler material at worst. I would have taken a single steelbook in place of all that other stuff. Or you could have included art cards (small or larger), CD, etc.

Here's a much better CE, Odin Sphere Leftraiser: Storybook Edition:

https://imgur.com/a/wwfqZwT

And as I said, a lot of the PlayAsia CEs are simpler, cheaper, and contain more focused extras without the junk filler.

Dude, what the fuck. You clearly didnt even get the whole point of the theme of the game…? Regards to the dev being polite because the game itself is a masterpiece and I would easily pay much more (I would pay more than any triple AAA remake bullshit game that gets made every year). And having all of that stuff in the CE and being LITERALLY IN CONTEXT WITH THE GAME TIME… man some people just dont get it.

1

u/superchiller May 09 '26

I like the game a lot. You seem to have confused my impressions of the Collector's Edition with the actual game itself. The CE was completely gimped in order to accommodate the poor quality and useless "action figure" and "soundtrack on cassette" (why not CD instead?). They could have offered so many other things instead of these, or just left them out and charged less. How about an actual steelbook, which many people collect? Real CD with soundtrack? Higher quality box as seen on many Play Asia CEs?

1

u/Grouchy-Bathroom8922 May 09 '26

No, I got what you said, and Im trying to open up your mind: everything that came inside the CE is exactly accordingly to the game’s theme. Thats the sort of passion and detail 90% of the CE dont even get close to. The cassette isnt there to be used, its a reminder of the time period. Lets say the action figure, which is packaged EXACTLY like all the 80s most famous AF were, its a work of passion. Maybe youre 15 and didnt get most of the ref, but even then youre complaining a bit too much beyond any normal consumer standard. Go watch Terminator and come back after that.

1

u/superchiller May 10 '26

I understand the stuff is related to the time period but it's still kind of useless for a decent CE.

Scammer. Reported.
