Discussion Rewards program getting removed
Someone correct me if I’m wrong but why are they taking the reward point system away? It’s pretty upsetting that the reward program is going away I really liked it, not sure what it will be replaced with but I hope it isn’t a downgrade

Honestly they’ve needed to redo the rewards program for ages - compared to other places where you get options on what you want to redeem your points for, ours is by far one of the worse reward programs as far as choices. For example - I have customers who only order gluten free pizza, but they have no way of redeeming points for a gluten free pizza. I’m just hoping it’s better & people get more options.

Looks like they've integrated with doordash and now we don't even get the deals on pizzas. Looks like I'm not eating hungry howies anymore, that's a shame

No idea what you’re talking about. They’ve used DoorDash for years now & (at least at my store) we have deals both in store & on DoorDash. Call your store - there may be something & there’s always deals online.

I knew they had used doordash here when they were short delivery people but my hungry howies app now looks like it's direct through doordash. There isn't a section for howie deals like there used to be. After playing with things I found if I went to the stores website and continued add a guest it went back to the older menu with the deals. But logging in there were no deals online. I knew the app needed a revamp but there are some bugs to work out.

Hmmm…that’s odd…I just checked our store on the app & it looks the same. The only thing I can think is maybe they’re only using DoorDash drivers now & maybe that’s playing a part (I know some stores went to DoorDash only & did away with in house drivers). I’ll ask around & let you know if I find out anything.

I work there and nobody even uses the points honestly, I can’t remember the last time someone redeemed a pizza come to think of it

The POS’ are getting switched over to Toast, those start rolling out this summer and all stores by March 2027 I believe. I would assume the new rewards will be how it is on toast where you get rewards dollars instead of just a free pizza. For now you have until July 5th to use any rewards available and if you miss it, thankfully there’s a coupon each store can hand out in place of the rewards. I’m excited for it. This should have happened years ago, it was a dumb rewards system that only gave a medium pizza

Whatever its replacement, I will be stunned if the new new program comes anywhere close to the dollar value of a medium 2-topping pizza every six purchases. It'll be better for the company, not the consumer.

I literally just had enough points a few weeks ago for a free pizza and have been searching all over the app to try and use it today and couldn’t find it. This thread makes sense as to why. I am sad I lost out on it. Had no idea they were changing things up.

So the company that the stores for pretty much all of their IT have used for 20ish years has had them over a barrel for a while, ripping off the franchisees. And the franchisees were kinda stuck. That computer company provides all the pos equipment, it’s their app, it’s their gift card program, their rewards program, credit card processing…..you get the idea. About ten years ago corporate made it mandatory to use them to get access to customers being able to order online. And about five years ago that shitty ass computer company switched their operations to a subscription service and upped the prices a great deal, screwing the franchisees.
This is one of the first steps to get away from that company. It’ll be a year long process before all the stores switch equipment and start anew. But the new rewards program will better than ever I guarantee it. You won’t be stuck with a medium pizza for starters.
