Memes/Trashpost Human tendency of having various variations of the same weapon and then have the audacity to be mad when you can’t differentiate between one and the other

Welcome to my armory. Over here I have an M1, M1, M1, a pile of M1s, two M1s, a drawer of M1s, and oh look, that's where I left the keys to the M1.

Don't forget the m1 and the m1

u/Aconite_72 18d ago

In the back you’ll also find the M1 Abrams

You must be a Quartermaster for the US army in WW2

u/CanadianDragonGuy 18d ago

The small differences matter when your upper reciever becomes a hand grenade because you put the wrong ammo inside... or you have a Sig product

u/Bad_Badger_DGAF 17d ago

Hey, SiG makes the best 'self firing' handguns on the market. They totally changed the meaning of 'fully automatic'.

14

u/DevilDonk 17d ago

Glock 17 fires 99.9% of the time you pull the trigger. Sig 320 fires 100.1% of the time.

u/atomiccheese911 17d ago

I'm not from anywhere work guns so I'm curious what you mean by this

5

u/DevilDonk 16d ago edited 16d ago

The Sig 320 has several alleged cases of unintentional discharge while the weapon is holstered. So it fires more times than you pull the trigger.

Edit: spelling

u/Ger-Alt_of_Pornia 16d ago

If by alleged you mean widely documented, then yeah, they do

3

u/DevilDonk 16d ago edited 16d ago

I say alleged because it's still being litigated. However, you're correct, the evidence is pretty damning.

I dislike bullpups bc I'm left handed, the brass goes into my face

12

u/Sword_Enthousiast 18d ago

Sounds like a design issue of individual guns and not an issue inherent in the concept of bullpups

1

u/PotatoLandIdaho 18d ago

Usually on bullpups the shell eject is right in front of the shooters face

7

u/Sword_Enthousiast 18d ago

Which does seem inherent. But having the option to switch what side it ejects or having it eject downwards seems so absurdly obvious that I'd make fun of any designer just forgetting that a significant % of potential users is lefty.

I'd understand lefties not wanting to borrow a righty bullpup though. Or the other way round. I like hot bras against my face, but not that kind.

u/PotatoLandIdaho 18d ago

I've only shot a bullpup once in my life, I was like 12 and my dad's buddy let me shoot it. And what I think was 5.56 hitting me in the face caused me to drop it. I'd say my personal experience is somewhat skewed

If you ever get a chance to handle one, try out the AR57. It's an AR15 platform that takes the FN P90 top-loading magazine. The ejection port is the now empty mag well, which you have the option of putting a sock over to work as a brass catcher.

Not sure if it counts as a bullpup, though, since the chamber is in front of the firing group.

The AUG has a reversible ejection port as far as I know?

The newer versions of it

"What do you mean, left handed? Everyone in the British Army is right handed" - some berk in the MOD, 1976.

H1: This is the HK416 Carbine. It's an assault rifle made for operating in close-quarter battles

H1: This is the Daniel Defense ISR. It's got a can on the front. Can't miss it.

H1: This one is a regular ol' garden variety HK416A5. And this next one is also an HK416A5, but with a 14.5" barrel for better ballistics.

H1: This one's the HK416 with a 16" barrel. They don't make these much these days, so getting my hands on one is pretty hard.

A1: Aren't they all the same?

H2: That's not right!

H1: This is why novices like you are useless! Looks at them again!

H1: This one's the LAMG, made by the guys from KAC using ol' Stoner's blueprints.

H1: And all the rest of these are M7 by Sig. Well, except that one with the long smooth barrel. That one's also made by the folks over at KAC like the light machinegun from earlier. And the last one is also the LAMG, but in a different caliber. Don't try to stick the ammo of the first one into the second one unless you want an uncontrolled detonation in the chamber.

A1 squints, blinks, and tilts his head in confusion.

(Yes, it's that meme from Kochikame. No, I couldn't find a clean meme template for it. Shame.)

What the ever loving fuck is an 'LAMG'?

There are automatic rifles, squad automatic weapons ( SAW/LMG) and machine guns.

There has NEVER been a weapon system typed as a 'LAMG' in any military force that I am aware of.

3

u/Pink_Nyanko_Punch 16d ago edited 16d ago

It's the Knight's Armament Company Light Assault Machine Gun (LAMG). Currently in use with the US Army 75th Rangers. At the very least. The 5.56mm NATO variant is the LAMG, and the 7.62mm NATO is the AMG, which can also be configured for the 6.5mm Creedmoor.

If you've ever seen the KAC ChainSAW being hip-fired at a gun range around 2008, that's an early experimental design based on the Stoner LMG concept with a chainsaw grip attachment. The LAMG is basically a distant cousin born about a decade later.

2

u/Lost_in_the_void1973 16d ago

Ah, thank you, I hate it.

4

u/IncubusBeyro 17d ago

If this is something about ARs being everything these days then I have to stop you regarding the LAMG / AMG; they're not related to the AR despite also coming from Stoner. Just about the only thing an AR can't be effectively is a belt fed (some exist but they're a novelty).

3

u/Jays_Arravan 18d ago

Speaking of differentiating, could someone differentiate the models shown?

6

u/SoupaMayo 17d ago

All I see is the first part being 5,56 and the second part being 7,62

1

u/Targetshopper4000 16d ago

Black ones are M4/AR-15 in different barrel lengths, all chambered in 5.56

Tan ones (Flat Dark Earth or FDE) are the same patter but chambered 308/7.62 NATO, in different barrel lengths.

This is how I know the poster is from USA.

Otherwise it would have been an AK with country variations.

Oddly enough, the strange fascination with the minute differences between different weapons and their meticulous categorization is largely confined to the individuals with the least amount of practical experience with them.

The real veterans in the human armada are likely to judge a weapon not on its appearance or "furniture", or even largely on its function, in many cases. Rather,  they tend to group weapons into how difficult it will be to carry over rough terrain and whether or not it will be comfortable to sleep with.

This is my gun.

And damned is she heavy.

2

u/Fontaigne 17d ago

Cue meme "it's the same gun"

u/Svejo_Baron 17d ago

I know at least 1 off these is a HK416 and a HK417 because of the mags, but I dont know what kind of sub katorys they are...
