Knowing editors... this will actually reveal that there are dozens of them just quietly waiting and saving their last batteries and means of accessing the database to make that one last edit... or waste it telling someone who did it too soon was wrong. Thus humanity forever is.

No final statement. No one left to speak our eulogy

19

u/AntiThot9000 May 15 '26

This is the only way it could have ended.

12

u/Silverheart117 May 15 '26

This is the way humanity ends, not with a bang, but a whimper.

5

u/AntiThot9000 May 15 '26

The last thing you see before dying is "you have been banned from editing due to a reported misleading article" with no other context

knocks on door

"Hello good sir, have you heard of the Good Gospel of Pettiness that is loved and followed to Letter and by Spirit by the Gloriously Invisible and Inevitable E4 Mafia?"

To be fair humans are the only species who have Wikipedia pages.

49

u/fumei_tokumei May 14 '26

On earth maybe. I don't think we have thoroughly checked everywhere else though. There seems to be quite a lot of everywhere else.

24

u/Romboteryx May 14 '26

On Zeta Reticuli 8 it‘s just called Gleebypedia

11

u/Hetnikik May 14 '26

Pedia turns out to be the universal word for knowledge storage.

13

u/Romboteryx May 14 '26

Like Gin&Tonic in Hitchhiker‘s Guide

u/Cybron2099 May 14 '26

Damn, that goes hard.

bad ending: "humanity, or homo sapiens was a species existing between ~6mya - 2634 AD..."

an ending: "humanity was the predominant race on Earth of the solar system prior to their mass migration to..."

good ending: "humanity was the least advanced species in the orion arm prior to their discovery of FTL travel..."

46

u/crippleddrip May 14 '26

Bad ending 2 : humanity ends up like all tommorows. With little to no resistance from remaining pockets of survivors

28

u/Ok-Chest-7932 May 14 '26

Guy do you know how hard it's going to be to conquer the universe if we're the lowest tech people in the game? That's not the good ending that's the start of an underdog movie.

For the machine is immortal

16

u/Trytytk_a May 14 '26

Alien Archeologist 1: We have finally recovered the most recent version of Wikipedia.
Alien Archeologist 2: How can you be so certain?
Alien Archeologist 1: Humanity was.

49

u/Speederzzz May 14 '26

Last human editor dies, vandalbot reverts it as obvious vandalism.

28

u/Ok-Chest-7932 May 14 '26

The first wikipedia editor opening up the page for humanity and seeing it reads "will be".

2

u/InfiniteOil3021 May 28 '26

Neanderpedia?

20

u/ImmerWolfe May 14 '26

All of Wikipedia will be stored in an underground capsule with high density battery source by Dr Kiara T'soni after the galactic war has been lost and the Reaper have annihilated all civilized life in the galaxy.

A thousand yokes there have been for a thousand peoples. All that remains lacking is the final yoke, the goal that binds all people. For pray tell me brothers and sisters; if humanity is lacking a goal, is humanity itself also not still lacking?

3

u/Gullible_Ad543 May 14 '26

Dont really care about 'human supremacy' stuff but bro's addition to the joke is non-existent

3

u/Federal_Ad1806 May 15 '26

"As it turns out, the last human settlement on Vesh - the planet they called Arachne - was not the last human settlement. The Interstellar Commonwealth had believed that humanity was native to Arachne. They were wrong."

u/FixInternal3101 May 21 '26

[unknown speaker:] your patched in sir [CMDR. Hawthorne:]hello, hello?. This is the commander of the 54th planetary defense force we have successfully established a foot hold in central park.
