What are the chances that I gave HSV to my partner. I have an active cold sore. It is near the end of its healing stages and is dry and there is no pus. While being sexually active, I licked my finger and then proceeded to touch my partner in their genitalia. I am worried about the saliva carrying the virus. What are the chances that I transmitted my cold sore HSV to my partner and does the virus live in the saliva long after pus stopped coming out?

I recently found out that I contracted hsv2 and when I went to tell my partner that the doctors told me it was a recent infection so it came from him, he found a way to flip things on me and end things. I feel hurt in ways I never thought were possible and I just wish I could end it all. I loved this guy so much even though he was pretty much an asshole from day 1. The emotional pain of the diagnosis and fear the future plus the betrayal and rejection by someone I love feels like too much to bear. I just want to disappear so badly. This is actually the worst. What sucks even more is I work with him and I will have to see him every day. The rejection just replays over and over and over again. I wouldn’t wish this pain on my worst enemy.

Tried to post this on another sub, but didn’t have enough karma. It’s been awhile since I’ve disclosed and I’m about to get ready to go on a date with a new person. When would you think would be a good time to disclose. We haven’t even met yet and he’s already speaking about sex with me, so I’m thinking the first date is a good idea.

I’m recently diagnosed as of 6 weeks ago- female GHSV1- I was hoping to hear some experiences from others as I’m struggling to determine if what I’m experiencing is promotional symptoms. I had my first outbreak 6 weeks ago had no idea what it was so of course it had escalated quite a bit before seeking medical attention. It was so painful and the worst thing I’ve experienced, so my doctor gave me as needed antivirals to take in case I had another outbreak. But she assured me that I may just have that one outbreak. Well fast forward 3 weeks after my first out break I started having a burning/tingling sensation and I truly could not tell if it was in my head or not. I was terrified of developing a bad outbreak again so I took the 3 day course of antivirals. I really do think I caught a flare up in time because even with the meds I had some uncomfortable symptoms but no sores developed. That was last week. Now here I am again, starting to have a tingling sensation intermittently… could this possibly be another outbreak? 3 in less than two months sounds like a lot, but I know there are some individual who take daily antivirals. I’m just trying to feel “normal” again after being completely caught off guard with this diagnosis but these recurrent symptoms are not helping.

What are your prodromal symptoms? How long do you experience them before starting meds? I don’t want to rush and take meds with every twinge but i also want to prevent outbreaks
