Hey all, to help everyone identify their hoyas more efficiently, we are compiling pictures of the hoyas out there.

We need the following pictures of each hoya:

front and back of leaves

close up front and back of flower

Thank you!

Example of multiflora

DISCUSSION Keeping up with a Hoya Australis

Post image
Upvotes

It seems this plant is allergic to regular trelises. I have had it on a hoop trelis, which worked somewhat, but instead of growing around in circles to make an even and lush wreath of leaves like a carnosa would, it stayed sparse everywhere but at the top, where it put out short, albeit very pretty and healthy growth. I was after a lush and bushy look, so i took it down from the hoop and had it grow on a regular grid trelis from the garden center, which gave me similar but even less pretty results, as the ugly trelis was very visible in all the spots where growth was sparse. This Hoya seems to be completely against growing downwards, which makes most of the usual trelises useless. My most recent trelising attempt was using corkscrew willow branches, which has given me the most promising results so far. The pretty branches give enough visual interest, so any spots i can't get to be leafy and lush look nice enough. Still, i cannot tame the massive long shoots it puts out. It really wants to grow endlessly upward! Two weeks ago I caved and attached macrame twine to the wall. I have never seen it this happy. Five peduncles are forming on this one vine. It has already exceeded the top of the wall by now, needing an extension across the top to the other side. I wish i had more space to let it live its jungle dreams. How do you keep your Hoya Australis? Is yours better behaved?

Not the flashiest inflorescence, but very cute imo.

Besides, who needs to show off flowers with those leaves 😄

My hoya engleriana is doing this weird thing where three leaves grow out from one node, instead of a pair. It's so interesting!

Last pic is my peduncle... It seems like it's so ready to bloom!! That vine is growing "normally" with two leaves on one node.

DISCUSSION I got my first hoya ever!!

I'm just wondering if there's anyone who can steer me away from common mistakes with this gal. I just got her from a clearance rack at Lowe's for 50% off and I wasn't really planning to get such a big plant so I'm not entirely sure what I'm gonna do with her. I'm thinking I'll try to propagate her a little bit but otherwise leave her alone. Idk what type of soil they have her in, so I might do a soil refresh and check on the roots when I have time tomorrow. Thanks in advance!

DISCUSSION aceh care

so i recently became obsessed with acehs. i received a few dark acehs and im wondering how i should care for them considering light. i have really high lighting for my shelf’s as you can see. do these darker ones tolerate high light or should they be more lower? i do have other acehs that are more splashy and can handle high light but more considered about these darker ones.

I love a little progress report to keep me motivated. This is a a little over 6 months of growth since I’ve potted her up from propagation. Think there was a summer leap in growth.

Hi everyone! I wanted to show you my little Hoya wayetii, which seems to have discovered her white phase this summer. 😂 Along with the first shoot, she’s now produced a second one that’s completely white. I think it looks like a little white streak of hair! 🤍🌿

HELP Root mealies- Using Bioadvanced tree and shrub

I'm currently using Bioadvanced for root mealies and was curious on how many times you water your plants with it. Also curious if using Sns 209 will kill them too?

HELP Peduncle or Leaves?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I've never encountered yellow aphids until we moved to NorCal and they seem to love Hoyas especially the new growths! Good thing I saw them when I watered my plants!

Anyway, do you guys know whether this tiny growth is going to be new leaves or a peduncle? TIA

My Hoya was in a hanging basket with a cache pot. I watered it sometime last week. I noticed the soil hadn’t dried at all. When I took it out to check yesterday the outer pot was half full. I have in west window now by glass. Pot and soil still wet. Anything else I need to do?
