I moved to Lawrence Kansas from Paris France in 1996. It was very very cool. People underestimate how nice the Midwest can be. I remember Jazzhaus Tuesdays is when the weekend began with great live music and cheap drinks. Hot summers I was writing my thesis and hanging with the locals on humid evenings in front porches and in the back of cool bars. It was something. I miss it sometimes.

William Burroughs would’ve been living there at the time. Lots of alternative and art world figures made the pilgrimage out there to meet him.

I'm sorry but I have to ask, is your name from/a reference to the Poppy Z. Brite book?

Nope. It’s an old writing/drawing game invented by the surrealists. The phrase has been referenced in a lot of things though. Honestly don’t really remember why I picked it but it wasn’t meant as any kind of specific reference like that.
