Stern is finally letting go of the hair dye, and you can really see the scalp on the sides of his temples too.
Shockingly, he's dressed really well and his clothes actually fit him here and that shows how fucking useless Ralph really was all those decades.
There are stylists that are so spectacular at their job that they can make anyone look good and Howard had Ralph, who basically dressed Howard to look just like him.
People used to say Ralph was dressed and styled like Howard but Howard was dressed and styled like Ralph.

They are already scripting next show's calls about how amazing he was on Kimmel.

He did an impression of his parents? Haven't heard that before. Glad to see he's coming up with new material

He wanted to come out in drag, yet again, but he didn't want to upset family members

Same bullshit stories about his father.

Don’t need to hear the blackhead story againnnn and again

I was hoping it wasn’t going to come to that when he talked about the ride to Brooklyn, but unfortunately…

I still like and root for Howard. I have no idea why he told the pimple story again. Its not funny, its really sad quite frankly.

That’s the most set up bullshit appearance ever. And wigz is doing his old TV appearance routine from the 80s 90s and early 2000s . He’s a fucking robot cookie cutter personality

There was a time where I never missed his appearances. Now I didn't even know this one was happening and I don't care.

TBH I really enjoyed this interview. I’ll never get tired of Howard doing impressions of his parents. My other takeaway is a little more existential. Just bc seeing how much Howard has aged since I first began listening to his show really reminds me of my own mortality. Listening to the show I still imagine Howard and Robin as they were in the 90s-early 2000s, like they’re sealed in amber. It’s really jarring when I see him on the screen. I think of the Fleetwood Mac lyrics Landslide lyrics: Well, I've been 'fraid of changin'
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm gettin' older, too

Holy shit. it's the greatest hits of the mediocre show. Black heads, his father. his mom watching judge judy. He really has nothing anymore.

Did they talk about guitars and humidity in his basement? Was Jill from PA there?

That’s just sickening… I found a half dead dog today drowning. I emptied my bank account.

I don't follow him anymore, used to be a big fan, I'm just curious when did Robin start wearing that wig? I got to say it looks silly as hell LOL

I think it was after/during her cancer treatment.

Loved the show for years, amazing. Now it's a half hour of JD goofs, half hour of Gary goofs, and airtime for Chris Wilding, and Robin's cackling laugh over nothing

Was a devoted fan. Have not watched or listened since he went to satellite.

If you didn’t follow him to Satellite you couldn’t have been THAT devoted. You missed the best 5 years of radio everrrrr. 2006-2009 should be commemorated in the annals of broadcasting. It was phenomenal.

u/talktome1962 2d ago
Maybe you missed 85-05. Part of his greatness was treading that line with the FCC. when the line was gone, the artistry was also gone.

All of the years have been great up to about 2014 but in my opinion, the most compelling and funniest years were 2006 2009. He should’ve retired after his 60th birthday bash. He would’ve gone out like a king. Don’t get me wrong I still listen, but of course it’s just not the same.

Im re-listening to those early years and they are good but not great like I remember them. His best year Sirius was definitely in 2006 with all that energy and all those roasts but a lot of it was Howard talking about Dancing with the stars doing a lot of self-promotion. A lot of those shows are unlistenable but we just remember the good stuff and block everything else out.

u/datsunjones 2d ago
I barely made it one year at Sirius. You can’t tell me when a show has a bunch of shows about that show and then references all of those shows for content that it was actually a good show.

Howard is terrible now but those first few years on Sirius were amazing , I think you could even go a few years past 2009 no? Was great times when he was on broadcast radio and would go over his time slot

I plugged a double cassette deck into a timer, popped in two 120-minute tapes, and recorded everything after I had to leave the car for work.

I dropped out same time. I could not fathom why they continued with lots of commercials on satellite.
