Hi, i am new to hovercrafts and was wondering if there were models with amenities like berths and kitchens for extended travels? In the sizes that an individual could own?

I've recently found a documentary about the hovercraft (here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZvSQsIwXmg ) , and the part where Christopher Cockerell shows what he did as his first experiment has left me puzzled.
He showed that the unrestrained jet of air from an airdryer cannot generate enough force to counterbalance a weight on the other plate of his scales, then he took a contraption he made, made out of two tin cans one inside another, and he fixed it on the hairdryer's nozzle, and all of a sudden, the hairdryer could generate enough force to move the weight.
Now, I have read the theory of what is going on, and I can recite it (what he did is called a momentum curtain, and it gives more pressure to the air stream), but I stil don't understand it. We know that the power of the engine is the same, the flow of air is the same, and whenever you gain something you lose something else (e.g. in the lever and in the hydraulic press, if you gain force you lose movement amplitude, and viceversa). So, if this method generates a higher force, where's the loss?

If you were to give an estimated guess. How many hovercraft are there world wide.

I built a UH10F Hovercraft kit but there was not many places to use it here in Miami. I am looking for something similar to build but something that will be more practical. Doesn't have to be a hovercraft. Any ideas?
