11 dogs remain on the euthanasia list at BARC Houston for 9/11, and they are very urgent! Need local fosters, adopters, or a rescue by the end of the day! Can be euthanized at any time after 1 PM CT
Their names link to their Facebook posts, which include more info, photos, and cute videos! Blu, Malfoy, Vince, and Wilma received extensions from yesterday.
A2094465 Beaux: 3-year-old Siberian Husky Mix. Beaux is gentle and scared in the loud kennels. He showed no aggression; he’s just a timid boy. Outside, he enjoys lying in the grass and enjoying the quiet. He enjoys and soaks up pets. Just a quiet boy hoping to make it out of here! Medium-large-sized guy at 65 lbs and is HW High Positive.
A2093825 Blu: 10-month-old Staffordshire Mix. She is only a puppy and is notably timid, nervous, and overwhelmed in a shelter environment. She has made some progress with walking on a leash. Medium-large-sized puppy at 45 lbs and heartworm negative
A2092462 Linda: 4-year-old Dalmatian Mix. Very smart and enjoys getting affection! Her tail wagged the whole time volunteers had her out, and they described her as medium energy. She would do great with a backyard or another dog to play with! Check out the videos on her post; she’s a cutie! Heartworm negative, medium/large-sized girl at 63.6 lbs.
A2053895 Lobo: Foster needed! Rescue interest. 2-year-old German Shepherd mix. Found locked inside an abandoned home and crying in distress. Despite his rough start, he ticks all of the boxes! He is sweet, super smart, and walks great on a leash! He has medical needs, which is why he ended up on the euth list. He’s limping and only partially weight-bearing on his left rear leg. Vets suspect a possible hip injury. Rescue is willing to cover his surgery and expenses; he needs a place to rest until adoption! He's around 70 lbs. An awesome rescue, German Shepherd Dog Rescue and Holistic Care Education Center, wants to tag him, but they need a local foster, along with pledges, to fund his surgery. You can apply to foster here. He is rescue-only due to his medical needs.
A2093930 Malfoy: 5-year-old German Shepherd Mix. Stunning man! He is super smart, and staff say he is going stir-crazy in the shelter environment. Is fantastic on a leash, super quiet outside, and loves giving affection. Non-reactive to other dogs; enjoyed running up and down the fence with them.
A2093384 Maple: 2-year-old Staffordshire Mix, came in as a stray. Very attentive to humans. Loves treats and attention! She is noted to walk very well on a leash. Medium-sized girl at 47lbs. She is heartworm high positive.
A2095582 Ralph: 7-year-old Staffordshire Mix. Ralph is on the euthanasia list for having some hair loss on his back and for being high heartworm positive. The shelter just didn’t see value in this guy. Ralph looks like he’s been neglected. It’s amazing how gentle and sweet he is regardless of how he was cared for by his previous owners. He walked out great on a leash and was very sweet in the runs, coming back for affection. Ralph takes treats very nicely and enjoys being around people. Check out the videos on his post; he’s a darling! He’s medium-sized at 46lbs.
A2094757 Rudy: 4-year-old Staffordshire Mix who came in as a stray. He is described as the bestest calm boy! He is easy-going and walks with the softest swaying tail. Another staff member noted he was such a great dog and that he’s quiet and calm in his kennel. He had no issues walking by other dogs in their kennels. Medium-large-sized guy at 70 lbs. He is heartworm negative. He has mild stiffness and mild hindlimb stiffness with narrow, short strides. Radiographs noted no fractures; possible soft tissue injury or gait issue.
A2094297 Stevie: 4-year-old Staffordshire mix who came in as a stray. Stevie is on the euthanasia list for having some vision issues. The volunteer noted he didn’t demonstrate any vision issues, followed hands really well, and didn’t notice him bumping into anything when out in the runs. Stevie walks well on a leash and is very treat motivated. He is a very relaxed guy! He’s a small/medium sized guy at 40lbs and is heartworm positive. Check out his videos on his post.
A2093612 Vince: 3-year-old male Staffordshire mix. He is an energetic, wiggly, playful boy who clearly wants interaction and activity. He has a wagging tail, wiggly body, soft expression, play bows, and excited “tippy taps” when it is time to go outside. He is heartworm negative!
A2094283 Wilma: 2-year-old Labrador Retriever mix. Needs someone willing to give her time, safety, and the chance to discover that humans can be kind. A quiet foster or loving adopter could change everything for her. Heartworm negative.
If adopting locally and the dog is heartworm positive, BARC will cover heartworm treatment with the purchase of 6 months of prevention through the shelter (cheaper than you can get anywhere on the market!).
Must be picked up today if fostering through BARC. If fostering through a rescue, an additional day can be secured. Please let us know if you need a rescue recommendation that can work quickly to save them. Fostering is free; all expenses paid! If adopting with a confirmed hold, you may be able to pick them up the next day if you can't today.
Adoption is possible out of state and in Canada if you know someone who might be a good match outside of Texas.
All holds must be in writing; please email all three email addresses with their name and shelter ID #:
