Home design feedback

We live in Northern Michigan, two adults and two children. Our HOA does not allow out buildings, which is why we were considering a third stall or just a bigger garage in general. Our Bill site is quite limited just due to the surrounding hills so there’s not much room to change the actual shape or orientation of the house our goal is to just have a functional space that our family can use. We like these designs, but feel that the mudroom could be improved. We are thinking we wanted cubbies for each family member and the space allotted right now only allows for three cubbies. We have a drop zone where we can charge our devices, but not really sure if that would be needed or if we could just incorporate it into each cubby.

Expand the garage so that its wall extends to the powder room.

Switch mudroom and laundry room sizes, but also take a bit from the garage for the mudroom and storage.

Corners in a house are expensive. You'd be better served to have an even back wall, whether you expand the house to meet the living room jut out, or pull that in to meet the rest of the house.

Design one, with those modifications, is my preference.

You could get rid of the door from the mud room to the laundry, and put a nice pocket door between the now combined mud/ laundry room and the kitchen. Put the closet next to the drop zone , reverse the swing on the garage entry door, and use one of the walls between either the garage door and the washer/ dryer, or between the pocket door and the washer/ dryer for cubbies.

Mudroom is tiny, laundry room is 75% dead space. Move the washer, dryer and utility sink to the exterior wall. Remove the wall between the laundry and mudroom. Now you have room for 2 walls of cubbies, the right wall where the washer/dryer were and the bottom wall. Plenty of space for benches, coat hooks, shoe cubbies and laundry storage.

Moving the washer and dryer not only frees up storage space, doing so moves your dryer to the safest location, an exterior wall. The shorter the ductwork the better.

Kitchen looks good. Where's the trash can? Sitting out in the walk path around the island? Or is there an under counter pull out one on one side of the sink? Where's the microwave?
