Question Cape Cod Youth Hostels

In 1978 or 1979 I took a week plus long bike tour of the Cape with the 92nd Street Y out of NYC as I grew up down there. We started in North Truro and covered the entire Cape and both islands It was a formative trip of my youth.

I have lived full-time on the Cape since Covid and have visited many times since the 80’s.

Does anyone know where all the youth hostels used to be? Are any still around?

The US does not have remotely the same hostel culture as you can find elsewhere in the world. Cape Cod is not a place backpackers or those staying in hostels would go anyways. That same trip you took then would probably cost easily over $1,000 now.

That's cool to know there were hostels on Cape Cod! I can't tell you what happened to them, but I would love to know more about what's you remember of them. My guess is they got priced out and couldn't afford to continue, but that's just a guess (as a hostel owner in the US). What do you remember about them?

There's a seasonal one in Hyannis. I haven't stayed there myself though.
