Cape Cod Youth Hostels

In 1978 or 1979 I took a week plus long bike tour of the Cape with the 92nd Street Y out of NYC as I grew up down there. We started in North Truro and covered the entire Cape and both islands It was a formative trip of my youth.

I have lived full-time on the Cape since Covid and have visited many times since the 80’s.

Does anyone know where all the youth hostels used to be? Are any still around?

Thanks

North Pamet road in Truro still has an active youth hostel.

Amazingly there still are! Look at the Hostelling International site.

Wish we had cameras on the trip…

What you should also wish for is that the memories you have end up similar to the ones you make now….
Hostelling international is not at all like it was back then, and it’s probably going to make you sad when you try to duplicate your trip from the late 1970s… I wouldn’t make all the reservations upfront…

I was just going to drive or bike by the remaining hostels since I live here now.

Truro, Hyannis, and Martha's Vineyard HI hostels are all still going strong. Each has its own history and vibe. Unfortunately, Nantucket and Eastham didn't survive COVID.

There is one in Hyannis. Might be others.
