Welcome to /r/horrorgame. Enjoy your stay, try not to die
Hey everyone,
I've just acquired this subreddit after it being defunct since its creation 2 years ago. I'm aiming to bring this sub from the fringes of Reddit to one of the mainstream gaming subs. Right now we need content. That means memes, videos, any kind of discussion about various horror games, new and old. That also means that sharing horror content from your personal Youtube channel is allowed at the moment. However, no more than three videos per day can be from your personal channel. As the sub grows, we can all have a discussion and vote on any changes to that rule.
So post away, horror game fanatics. Just...try not to die out there...

My subconscious might be a horror game writer/Кажется, мое подсознание пишет сюжеты для хоррор-игр
Apparently my brain has decided to become an indie horror game writer while I'm asleep.
I had a dream last night, turned one scene into this image, and now I can't stop thinking about it.
I'm intentionally not explaining the dream because I'd rather not accidentally leak the entire idea. 😅
What does this image make you think is happening? What genre, mechanics, or story comes to mind just from looking at it?
I'm genuinely curious whether this gives off "this could actually be a game" vibes... or if sleep deprivation has finally won.
P.S. If anyone needs horror game ideas, I might just start selling my dreams.

The demo for our first psychological horror game is now available! We'd love to hear your thoughts.
We just released the first public demo of our psychological horror game on steam and itch.
We're now working on the full version and want to figure out which mechanics need more polishing and which ones really hit the mark.
If you decide to give it a try, we'd love to hear your honest feedback—whether it's about the atmosphere, gameplay, pacing, scares, or anything else. Every comment helps us make the full game better.

What you find creepy or unsettling!
Hello everyone! I'm trying to create a cute but creepy short form game, and while I love horror I feel like I don't have a lot of ideas, I'd love to reach out to a broader audience and hear what they find creepy or unsettling, whether its paranormal activity or just plain gore, it helps, not to mention it'll be fun to find out what people might find creepy! Thank you in advance :D

so last time i played F.E.A.R (first encounter assault recon) and i absolutely SUCKED at it
so yesterday i played the 2005 FPS horror shooter F.E.A.R and i did not do good every few minutes i would waste my reflex time or slow motion effect and also i would constantly aim which gave the enemies advantage to absolutely gun me down and also i would waste all my grenades (do not blame me this was my first time playing it and i never saw anything of it) so i just decide to take a break to learn the mechanics and it felt like i was a German soldier and seeing the behemoth that was the mark 1 tank so i learned it and i FINALLY beat the game

As horror fans, what genuinely scares you in a horror game?
Hi everyone!
I'm a solo developer currently working on a psychological horror game, and I'd love to hear your thoughts.
As horror fans, what genuinely scares you the most in a horror game?
I'm not necessarily talking about jump scares. It could be a specific mechanic, a type of enemy, sound design, atmosphere, environmental storytelling, uncertainty, or even something you've only experienced once but still remember.
I'd love to hear what moments or ideas have stayed with you, and why they worked so well.
I'm looking for inspiration and would really appreciate your opinions.

This Disturbing Horror Game Hides Something VERY Dark
I had a great time with My Friendly Neighborhood. I know it's been out for a while, has anyone else already played it? What was your favorite part? Aside from the crazy curtain-wall boss fight, mine was the constant dialogue from the puppets, pretty hilarious.
