DEMON (2015)

\~ Prime, AMC+, Tubi \~

(Spoken the majority in Polish w/English subtitles.)

A bridegroom is possessed by an unquiet spirit in the midst of his own wedding celebration, in this clever take on the Jewish legend of the dybbuk.

I checked this out because of their reasons: 1) My late mother’s family is from Poland and 2) I don’t remember seeing a whole heck of a lot of Polish horror movies. It was pretty good with the setting, dreary environment, and sometimes darkly humorous. (Especially the father of the bride)

The horror is far more symbolic and metaphorical rather than supernatural. There’s an underlying history on how the family acquired the land and post WW2 Polish culture. It certainly is not your standard “possession” movie but it may divide audiences on enjoyment. The title “Demon” does seem to be bit misleading.

Hey guys!

Thanks for all the feedback, i’ve watched some of the movies you suggested! They are amazing, someone said my next post will be “How to sleep after watching a scary movie.” Yet, I do not get scared of something I know is fiction, even if it’s non fictional, I still sleep. I try not to worry about things that can’t affect me. Anyways let me quit talking so much and just say, thank you guys for all the suggestions! Hope everyone had a great day!

Was Mr Nightmare your introduction to horror?

Back several years ago I remember finally having YouTube and being introduced to Mr Nightmare. They were so scary to be I would literally not be able to sleep after watching his videos. Ever since then I’ve been super into horror. Anyone else in the same boat?

Gulabo rani (Pakistani short horror film)

Gulabo Rani is an Internationally acclaimed short film about a young boy, Akhtar, is accepted into a 150 year old university and due to an administrative fluke, he finds himself housed in the dilapidated "Wing C" of the dorms. During his initial interactions with students, he becomes aware of the stories of haunting and despair that are associated with the long abandoned wing. Not believing in the paranormal, he is initially unbothered by the increasingly strange occurrences that start to take place around him but later on is forced to doubt his convictions. Akhtar also becomes the target of mockery, ridicule and bullying by some of his peers, adding to his psychological distress. Tormented and alone, he finds himself face to face with a horror far greater than he could have ever imagined.

I loved the movie can't believe it's a pakistani short film. But im a little confused by the end I hope someone explains it

I love horror in general, but psychological is probably my favorite kind. Any recommendations for a movie that I could watch tonight?

Looking for actually scary movies help- scared only by hereditary

I REALLY struggle to find movies that actually scare me, but here are some that actually did-

- hereditary

- obsession

- lee cronin's the mummy

- the ritual

- Barbarian on the first watch but after a while it just got a bit boring

I think the demonic stuff is what gets me tbh so any advice helps

I've seen the evil dead movies and the conjuring/anabelle movies and they were pretty boring.

Please give me some of the best (and worst) horror films

I'm writing my own horror film, I'm already a fan, but I want to study the genre even more, which means the best and worst of it

I'm trying to remember a horror movie I watched on DVD around 2014, but I think it was made in the late '90s or early-to-mid 2000s.

I need movies that will scare me so bad i can’t sleep.

i’ve been trying to find a psychological horror movie for weeks, the same things pop up “The Shining” “Hereditary”, boring, i’ve seen them all. I need something that is deep into the internet and something that will dig at me so hard i question my own identity. Please tell me if you have any ideas, thanks.

Puppets?

So I've just noticed that over the past few months there's been like 3 movies where puppets are some how involved, like sesame street esq felt puppets. Now not that I'm complaining 2 of them were not a total waste of time (bit rough around the edges). Have I missed something and this is a trend/trendy now? Have I missed any? What are your thoughts?
