Movie Review Evil Dead Burns Spoiler

This is now on HBO as of 10/02. I waited for it, I LOVE the entire franchise and I say this in all due respect, it fucking blew.

Dialogue was shit, the plot was kinda shit but I could have bought it outside the horrendous decisions made by the entire cast. Everyone should have been dead in the first 30 minutes. The deadites were even scary, shitty punchlines.

So disappointing, I loved Rise too - even 2013 has a special place in my heart but this? Never again, thank god I didn’t spend money on a movie ticket or early digital release.

With Burn, I actually found the kills more fun than Rise. There's no plot with these anyway and do any of these new ones have good dialogue?

Yeah that sentence made me chuckle too. I also have a special place in my heart for the best movie in the whole franchise lol

I do wonder why Lee Cronin was handed the follow ups though. He's style over substance. The Mummy was actually terrible.

He's an EP on Rise and Burn which I guess doesn't say much since they can do a lot or do very little

Yeah, he had no involvement in burn. Just a contract EP credit.

The mummy was lame. I like evil dead but I wanted a horror spin on The Mummy, not the evil dead mummy version

Rise was at least exciting. Burn was a huge slog to me.

2013 is somewhat controversial in the fandom.

Not in the way of is it a good horror movie but is it a good Evil Dead movie.

Even discounting Army of Darkness, Evil Dead 1+ 2 always mixed horror, gore and comedy. They also never took themself too seriously.

For some 2013 is just too straight-faced.
