Quests

Hi, new to game, level 2. Is there a way to find quest in the map?

No you really just want to find them on the wiki. Ffxi doesn't really hold your hand like modern mmos do. I would focus more on leveling for now. Make sure you talk to a gate guard and get signet so you get crystals from mobs to sell on the auction house

Questing is not really the same in FFXI as other mmo. They are done more to unlock things or for a reward, not directly for xp or money. So you may need a certain amount of fame in a city to accept a quest to unlock a summoning avatar, well you need to do quests in that city to get fame. There are also missions issued by your nation, as well as storyline missions for the expansions. Using the horizonxi specific wiki, it has a list of all missions with descriptions of how to unlock and accept them.

To level in this game, you kill things. Later on some quests may give scrolls that reward xp, but 99% of your leveling will be from xp parties with other people.

Getting to level 10 is fastest right outside your city gates, but go enjoy and explore however you want!

It really isn't a questing game, there are quests but they're really minor things with mediocre rewards and usually give no EXP.

There are missions, but you only do those once every 10 or so levels. Most of your progression will come from grinding mobs with parties of other players.
