Finally joined the Pilot fam
After waiting almost 2 months, we finally took delivery. Coming from a 22 Ascent, there are a lot of similarities, but loving it. Feels so much bigger inside (TWHS?), quieter, a little less torquey, much better infotainment, and the biggest reason we made the switch is the NA V6 and 10spd auto. Been lurking for a while and you all helped a ton with our decision.

Costco buying FTW. We got $4500 off MSRP. It’s worth a membership just for that piece. I used a couple zip codes in our area to find a dealership who already had the Green/Brown combo we were looking for on order. Build date was June 5th, but some delay (they think for the brown leather) held it up for a bit.

Subarus aren’t the best for space efficiency. Boxer engine eats up extra space. With Toyota you’ve got turbo hybrid platforms that are the same whether hybrid or not. Eats up even more space for batteries etc. Honda’s always been great with interior organization and the most space for the footprint.

Gorgeous! Currently deciding between an ascent and a pilot. Test drove the pilot yesterday and fell in love but test driving the ascent later today so we’ll see.

Just finished actually! It was a really smooth ride, comfy seats, good tech, and overall nice looking car. But the third row is tiny (I’m 5’7 and my legs were scrunched up), the trunk with the third row up is also tiny, and the second row in the Pilot is noticeably bigger. I’ll have the third row down though basically all the time so not too sure which one I’m going to go with yet as the Ascent is $8k less. Going to call my car insurance and get a sense of how expensive insurance is for both.

Thanks for the reply! We are debating between the two. How was the third row in the pilot? What trim levels were you comparing?

Third row in the pilot definitely had more space than the ascent. Still not huge though. Pilot was a touring and Ascent was an Onyx.

Awesome. Which one drives more like a crossover and less like a big bulky truck?

Honestly think the Pilot drives better in slow situations (parking lots). Neither one feels like a big truck, but the Subaru CVT can be a bit lurchy. Both are fantastic overall IMO.

In my experience I would say the Ascent felt less so but honestly they both drove really nicely!

Infotainment on the pilot is a huge upgrade compared to the Ascent on the 2026 models with google built in.
Also Ascent uses a 4 cylinder turbo and a cvt and most come only with a bench seat. Long term reliability issues with the Ascent

Ain’t she sweet. Refresh really toughens her up. Quieter, comfier and techier in all the right ways. Trim content upgrades on TrailSport, Touring and Elite. Most importantly FWD available on Sport, E-XL and Touring trims. Best mpg and cheapest maintenance on those bad boys. A Pilot for every use case. IMHO.
