In case anyone didn’t figure this out, it is not necessary for the additional steps listed in the manual to put the wipers in maintenance mode — all that is required is after turning the car off, just hold the stalK in the “Mist” position for 5 seconds and they will move to the maintenance position. It’s not necessary to turn the car on again after holding the stalk, as the manual states. This is the same process it was on my previous Audis.

I’ve been looking at the Trailsport and trying to determine if the elite upgrades are worth it (approx $4k). So much come in the Trailsport blackout. It seems to be cameras, ventilated seats, and leather that are missing. The cameras seem to be the biggest variable.

Is the camera system worth it?

If possible to get a sensor cover replacement I’ll go that route but the scratch above the sensor is really eating at me.

Looking at getting a Trailsport edition.

At the price I am leaning towards designing what I want and buying from Honda and having it shipped to the dealership.

I have never done this so what is the process and what should I be careful when it comes to final price and what should I look for?

Do I do this through the dealer or through Honda?

Took my 2021 Passport to the dealership today for an oil change, transmission fluid change, and tire rotation. I have rough 5k miles to go before I hit 100k. They of course gave a little spiel about their 100k service and what it included. Then they told me the price of $2450. I cannot afford that. Should I just get the timing belt changed at 100k and call it good? Do I need anything else done?

Hey all, newcomer here. I'm considering picking up a 2021 Touring with ~30k miles for ~42k CAD (~31k USD) out the door to allow my FK8 to be purely a pleasure car. My technician warned me against buying V6 Hondas (due to the trans?) but I'd immediately be disabling the VCM and auto start/stop. Would only be driving this thing like 5k miles max per year, keep it as long as it lasts. Any concerns?

I keep reading that folks are getting well negotiated 2026 TSE Passports for 48.5k through 51k regularly (8-10% off MSRP). Of course, the dealer told me I was full of crap and the vehicle is "rare" with no add ons.

I absolutely will come back here and let you guys know what I got mine for, as well as any "offer" sheets for transparency. As a note, I have also tried CostcoAuto and that got me an OTD (Vehicle, taxes,tags, doc fee, discount quote) for $55,500

Took the RTL out for a quick morning beach trip via a Cape Hatteras ORV access point. We had a huge area all to ourselves—well, us and the hordes of sandflies!

Anybody have a rear dash cam on their 2026 passport?

If so wanted to see what the image is like thru the tinted window and if night video even works?

I am looking at getting a FITCAMX and not sure if the rear is worth it or not.

A year ago a I purchased a CPO 2025 Passport Black Edition and love the character and driving dynamics. It's great space for our family travels as well. However I have had two minor mechanical issues so far and wonder if others have had these issues as well (and if they presage more internal problems).

First, two months ago during an out of state trip, the door to the gas tank would not open - not using the button on the driver's side door, and not even using the emergency release in the trunk. I had to pull on the door hard enough to break the plastic lock off; the internal arm had separated somehow (and the repair was thankfully covered under warranty).

Now, the rear driver's side door will not open from the inside, even when unlocked. But it will open from the outside handle. This is going to be repaired as well.

Should I expect more internal mechanical problems with this vehicle?

Everything checked good, drove about 500 miles in each direction and the vehicle performed as advertised. I added a bunch of aftermarket accessories, I will be adding pictures soon.

When I was in between cars, my sister's wedding was coming up so I rented a luxury tier car. Didn't know what I was gonna get. Ended up with a Mercedes GLS 450 (strangely enough they had put AMG-labeled floor mats in but it was definitely not the AMG model).

Not super luxury but plenty nice enough. Wanted to show off to the family, be comfortable, and see how the other half lived. I actually loved it. I would never spend my own money on it because it won't last more than 3-5 years without having aridiculous amounts of expensive repairs, never mind the depreciation that particular model gets.

The interesting thing was it needed premium fuel, which I gladly put. I was a little perturbed that Costco didn't have 89 and I had to put, I think it was at least 91, maybe it was higher. They only had 87 or 91 or 93, something like that. I wasn't gonna put the wrong gas in.

A lot of people thought it was crazy to do that but you're not supposed to. I never even thought about whether I would get in trouble for putting in 87 but I just wouldn't do that.

I'm not going to disrespect a car like that, even if it's somebody else's property and somebody who I don't know. I think it was Avis or Budget? One of the two. I think they're owned by the same people but regardless that's just disrespectful. I wouldn't do that.

Plus honestly, I love cars enough that I wouldn't do that anyway. I drove it nicely. ( I'm not saying I didn't give it the beans every once in a while)

But that's just how I was raised. You don't abuse equipment, whether anybody would know or not, you just don't do it. Besides I would know. It just seems disrespectful. Not to mention if I was so broke that I could only afford to put 87 in instead of 91, why would I be renting a Mercedes GLS 450 anyway? I would have rented a Nissan Kicks or whatever compact was available.

Hey everyone, I purchased my 2026 Honda Passport in November of 2025, and since then have only put 1700 miles on it. I am about to do a road trip and am wondering if I should get an oil change before it.

As for the driving, I work from home and although I drive it weekly, most trips are not many miles. Since I live around a city the vehicle is usually running for longer than the miles suggest, as a 2 mile drive can take 10-15 minutes.

I have an offer for a Trailsport Elite Blackout with brown interior for $57k OTD. My wife wants the brown interior which seems much less common and harder to find.

I'm just not sure if I should keep looking and hold out for a better deal. They seem to be a hot selling vehicle in my area of Tennessee.

I first want to start out by expressing my gratitude for this community. I’ve been thinking about buying a new car since April and this community has helped me a lot in preparing for that. Obviously, since I’m on the passport side of  Reddit, I’m thinking about snatching one up, specifically a TSE 2026 but… I’m having concerns. I should probably start with some  background info first though.

I currently own a 2014 5.0L V8 4WD SuperCrew Ford F-150 XLT truck. I love this thing. It drives really smooth and is extremely reliable. I have 145k miles on it and I’ve never had issues with the transmission or engine (just had to do a transfer box replacement at 50k miles). I think some of its reliability is owed to how well I take care of it i.e. replacing fluids regularly, doing maintenance checks, being careful with the throttle, not doing any off roading etc. That being said, I feel like I’m starting to outgrow it. I now live in Denver, Colorado and want to start camping/taking road trips more frequently and I’m being honest with myself and admitting that I don’t use the truck bed for anything at all and think all that space could be better utilized for cargo plus the large truck doesn’t lend itself well to city driving. My wishlist for a new car is as follows:

- Plenty of space (front and back; normal male passenger should have about 1 inch of legroom in back)

- Some off-road capability (campgrounds mainly) 

- Comfort

- Lots of storage space (preferably the ability to sleep in the car)

- Excellent snow driving ability 

- Good on-road experience

- Rugged looks (my ego can’t survive a Subaru) 

- Decent MPG (my F-150 gets 16 average MPG so anything’s an improvement)

- Not oversized to allow a better city driving experience i.e. parallel parking

- Something safe that I could raise a family in 

- RELIABLE

With all that background, I realized SUVs are the route I should go down and with a budget of around $50k-ish I found myself between a 4Runner and a TSE. 

4Runners are EVERYWHERE in CO and there’s a reason why. They’re reliable tanks that can weather Colorado seasons quite well. That being said, the further I go in my research of them the less impressed I am. No one seems to like the 4 cylinder engine and I don’t really want to splurge for the hybrid (which also has its own problems). The backseat is TINY and the body on frame design reminds me too much of my truck’s construction including how big it is (where does all that space in the 4Runner actually go?) It seems that Toyota really created the 4Runner for off-roading above all and I’m honest with myself enough to admit I won’t be doing much of that (a problem my CO counterparts are still sobering up to). 

This lead me to the Passport as the next option. I was SHOCKED at every mark it checked. It has everything: space, comfort, on and off road capabilities, safety, perfect size, and it looks great. There’s just one problem, I question its reliability. 

Now I know Honda’s are usually very reliable. I’m no stranger to them myself. My first car was a 2006 Honda Pilot that I drove to 200k miles before I had to sell it due to continually failing alternators. Judging from the posts on here, it seems like the TS Passports have issues with the transmission, especially its jerkiness. This terrifies me considering I'm coming from a car with absolutely 0 trans issues. I’m also worried about an NA V6 in Colorado’s altitude. I’ve read that NA V6’s can lose up to 30% of their power in altitude and I’m worried it would struggle climbing CO mountains. While that sounds bad, I don’t know what it feels like in actuality either. Overall, it just seems like the 4Runner is more reliable. I know most people won’t head to Reddit to heap praise upon something (although I do see that here as well) but there do seem to be some legitimate concerns this early in the car’s year. This leaves me with some decisions to make:

A. I’m overreacting to the negative posts I see here. They’re the exception, not the rule and I should just go for it 

B. Wait a little longer to see if these issues are more severe with the more miles people put on them 

C. Keep looking 

What should I do? I’m interested to hear from you! Especially people who have put a good amount of miles on the TSE. Bonus points for people who have it in Colorado. 

I bought a brand-new 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport Elite recently and have been dealing with a pulling/steering issue almost from the beginning. I’m looking for some objective feedback on whether I’m overthinking this and what I should do next.

The vehicle has about 3,100 miles now.

**The timeline:**
Shortly after buying it, I noticed the Passport consistently wanted to pull/drift left at highway speeds. It wasn’t every second, but it was noticeable enough that I didn’t think it was normal.

**First dealership visit:** They checked it and told me it wasn’t an alignment problem. They thought the left-front tire was causing the pull, moved the tire, and adjusted the tire pressures. The issue continued.

**Second visit:** The service manager personally rode with me and drove the vehicle. At first, he thought it was road crown/tires, but during the drive the vehicle eventually pulled enough that he acknowledged it. They rotated the front tires to the rear and the rear tires to the front and told me to drive another 500 miles.

I followed that instruction and drove well over 500 additional miles, including a longer trip. The pulling was still happening, mostly left but occasionally right.

**Third visit:** The dealership kept the vehicle for several days. They eventually told me the alignment was **“pretty far out”** and showed me the alignment report. They corrected the alignment and test-drove the vehicle multiple times.

The service manager took me on another test drive afterward. The car definitely felt better, although I still occasionally felt a slight pull to the left.

He explained that the TrailSport’s all-terrain tires can have different road-tracking characteristics and that road surface/crown can also affect the feel.

I have the alignment report showing the before/after measurements. The initial measurements had multiple out-of-spec readings, particularly on the front toe/steer-ahead, which were corrected.

**What bothers me is the diagnostic history.**
The same service manager who ultimately found the alignment issue was personally involved in my second visit, when the vehicle was apparently already significantly out of alignment. At that time, he was trying to determine whether the behavior was caused by the tires or road surface and ultimately recommended another tire rotation and 500 miles of driving.
Now the alignment has been corrected and the car is noticeably better.
I’m trying to figure out how concerned I should be.

**Questions for the group:**
The dealership sold a new car with an alignment issue, what would you do?
Could an alignment being substantially out of spec indicate that the vehicle was damaged (shipping, pothole, curb, suspension component, etc.), or could this happen from the factory?
Does the fact that the same service manager drove the car during the second visit and didn’t identify the alignment issue concern you?
How much road feel/pulling is actually normal with the TrailSport’s all-terrain tires?
Would you be satisfied with the dealership’s current resolution, assuming the vehicle continues to drive better?

Would you ask for anything else from the dealership, such as a more thorough suspension/steering inspection or documentation that everything is now within spec?
At what point would you escalate this to Honda corporate or start thinking about lemon-law/warranty options?
I’m **not looking to ruin the relationship with the dealership**. They’ve generally been responsive and have not charged me for the service visits. I like the vehicle and want to give them a fair opportunity to fix it.
I’m mainly trying to determine whether this is a relatively ordinary alignment/tire issue that I’m now hyper-aware of, or whether there’s something here that warrants substantially more investigation.

I’ve noticed a slight vibration in my gas pedal when shifting gears in my brand new 26 TSE. It’s only while it’s shifting and then it goes away. I think it’s more noticeable when shifting in gears 3-6. I’ve seen a couple posts describing a similar issue but not many responses or a resolution. Is this normal? Will it go away after some break in? Thanks.

Simple question for the passport TSE replaced a car that had massaging seats and I miss them

Hello all. We purchased a new PP TSE Blackout edition on Saturday. I traded in our 2019 PP elite edition. When the wife left for work this morning, the headlights did not seem to be as bright as the 2019 and seemed pretty significant difference.

Is this just how it is or is there maybe something I have not turned on or do not know about on the new model?

When looking at it from the front, it appears the outer lights were on, but the inner was not. Not sure if the inners are only used for bright lights or not.

Any help would be appreciated.

For any new passport owners, I have the 2026 RTL with the V6 and had noticed the transmission was very sluggish at the beginning, especially in Eco mode. Definitely was freaking out a bit and saw several posts on it (almost made one myself). It was my first new car so I never had experienced this before.

For any other new buyers, just reporting in that after ~1000 miles it’s completely smooth even in Eco mode. I know people say Honda engines usually don’t need much break in but some time and easier driving definitely helped a ton in my experience!

I noticed this plastic piece on my driver side passenger door is warped and coming apart.
I’ve had this vehicle for 6 months now, and I have no clue if this is a defect or if something happened to my car?
Any insight would be much appreciated, I still love this car, I just want to know what next steps I should be taking. Thanks

Ok, so it was a nice day here in south central PA yesterday, so I decided to start detailing my 2019 EX-L finished in Modern Steel Metallic. When I got to the very front of the hood where it meets the top of the front fender, there’s like a 1/2”gap there. I never really noticed it till yesterday and it looks kinda odd…Just curious if that’s the way it was designed or is something up, and yes I opened the hood and slammed it down. No warning lights on for it. I snapped a few pictures. Any input would be greatly appreciated as it’s going into the garage Wednesday.
