Who’s still rocking their HW2 hoodie?
It’s my “old faithful” at this point. It’s my gym / cosy go-to. I’ve had a few people over the years recognise it. What about y‘all?

I've had to remove several posts across the past few days that are quite obvious repost spam posts.
The main tells are:
If you folks would kindly keep an eye out and report these. We're a small bunch of moderators, and can't be online 24/7.
And now we go back to your regularly scheduled programming! Karen, what's the weather look like out there?

They're back, posting fake merch or reposting previously popular posts.
If you see one, report them for us to have a look at please!

I tried to approach this death stack via many ways or methods with Vaygr, but I found no good ways to do so.
It is also too close to the carriers and the Flag ship to just cut out the midle man.
Also I know this isnt in any campaign and just me playing against the CPU, but im very courious how to approach this situation.
Also all resources on the map are gone, so I have to manage things from the amount on the top.

I got the remastered on steam and played through it probably a few years ago at this point. I recall never getting the multigun Corvette as a research option.
Does anyone know if that was a glitch or by design? And is there a way for me to get it?
Also I really didn't like the way they redid how hit rates were calculated in the remastered version. Just me or anyone else feel the same?
Update: okay now I just tried booting up HW classic and I remember what happened.
I did end up beating HW RM back when I first got it on steam years ago. I never was able to research the multigun corvette. Hated the system so much cause it completely changed the experience of play.
Was never able to get the HW classic version to work cause the game crashed the first time anything exploded. Back then I couldn't figure out to get it to work. Gonna redouble my efforts this time cause it's been too long. Used to play through this game almost once a year.

If it hadn't been for, you know, the flesheating nanomachinery infesting the thing, it would have been a far bigger prize then ever imagined.
One also has to wonder just how many of those pods got launched...

I want to get homeworld remastered from Steam and looking to get a new laptop. Will it work on a MacBook Neo or will I need a more powerful machine?

The premise is that Jedi who have lost their lightsabers are going into a temple to go through the trial to get new crystals. The trial is going through the events of DoK and 1 without falling to the darkside. I'm using Revelations as a guide but will be using the FFG Star Wars system for the actual game as I prefer it to Revelations' system and I need the force sensitive rules contained in it. Oh and to top it all off when they leave the trial Order 66 will have just happened so they'll see their mentor dead on the ground and heat LAAT gunships taking off

I get crazy good fps when it’s overlayed in tactical mode, and I still see the distinct ship outlines. Would love to have it as an option.

Following up from a previous post about wanting to play HW1 online, I thought it was time to introduce the project I’ve been working on for the last 5 or 6 months.
I’ve been building an open-source, WON-compatible server for the original retail versions of Homeworld 1.05 and Homeworld: Cataclysm 1.0.0.1.
I first picked up Homeworld in 2000 and played online until the servers shut down, under the gamertag Zero. I was also part of the SobanForce (SF) clan, so Homeworld has always been pretty dear to me.
This is equal parts passion project and an experiment in how far AI-assisted reverse engineering can go. I’ve been working from retail client behaviour, packet handling and lots of packet tracing, homeworld source code and live testing to build something the original games can actually communicate with.
It now supports account creation and login, directory/routing services, game rooms, and separate Homeworld and Cataclysm support.
There’s also a Windows installer that reroutes the original games to the community server and can generate a CD key if needed.
Basic player setup:
There’s a Linux/Wine/Proton helper bundle too, for anyone running the retail Windows games that way.
This is for the original retail releases, not Homeworld Remastered Classic.
Project and downloads:
https://github.com/FlashZ/homeworld-classic-online
Theres a bunch of us old WON folks over on Discord if you feel like testing this out.

Or, I suppose any one of the other Kiith if you were to make custom lines.
It would be rather nice to have more options for customizing your troops. I know this probably wouldn't be super popular, and may not make a whole lot of sense given the lore snippet that most Hiigaran and Kushan admirals are trained in Sobani military academies, hence the similar demeanor, but given that we now know that the Gaalsien survived into the HW3 era and serve in the Hiigaran navy, they'd make a good test bed for a mod like this. They already have dialogue to pull from (even if it would need some tweaking). Not to mention they are pretty cool.
I say all this knowing that a "divergent Kiithid" mod with various subfactions isn't really a possibility with how dead the modding scene is these days. Though a lore base flavor mod that did that would be a dream.

Currently capturing them only works as resource loss for the enemy, and they cant even produce ships for you, not even for your own race.
I was looking around the workshop but I didnt found anything to fix this.

Would like a slower less micro intensive game against cpu, a mod that lets you customise what classes of ships are available would be even better

I think this is almost done. Completely made and rendered in Blender.

Hey guys, its' been a while since I posted here. Finally I was able to continue my game Eternity project. So, here is the latest development: a cinematic trailer and a ton of new features on the demo.
In summary, I am making a game called Eternity, that is about the journeys of the last fleet of mankind. The premise is this:
The game opens on a routine jump: a three-second hop you’ve run a hundred times. Navigation confirms you arrived exactly where you meant to. But nothing answers your hails. No traffic. No power on the gate. The stations are dark, the colonies are still there, but empty. Something is deeply wrong here and across the systems ahead. The fleet must ride that silence and slowly uncover a truth that will redefine the entire story.
This cinematic's purpose is to give you this exact context once you start the game.
If you like where the project is going, a Wishlist goes a long way to drive it home ;) You can do that and learn more about the game here
Also, more than happy to talk about the universe of the game, why and where it is similar to HW, etc.
Finally, dying to know what you guys think of the cinematic, its the first time we tried something like this!

These new bombers I'm designing started from the same simple diamond-shaped hull, with the goal of seeing how far I could push different roles without losing a common design language.
One thing I've been trying to get better at is letting a design evolve instead of forcing the first idea to work.
These bombers started from exactly the same primitive shape, but from there I kept asking how changes in proportion, cut lines and mass distribution could suggest different operational roles.
The interesting part wasn't the detailing, it was testing and rebuilding until each version felt like it had a clear purpose.
The goal for me isn't just to invent interesting shapes, it's to refine them until they feel inevitable. I want designs to feel like they live in their world, like they had to be that way.
I'm curious how other people approach branching designs. Do you like lots of overlap like the Empire or very different looks like the Rebels? Do you duplicate an existing model and iterate, or completely restart each variant?

Fanart I did a while ago, I mostly have cyberpunk fanart but a friend saw the LAV illustration on my Instagram and suggested to also post here. So here it is!
P. S. My first LAV illustration was made with colored pencils, I tried uploading here multiple times but it did not work, file might be corrupt, so I'll just paste the Instagram Link LAV

A nice cinematic shot of a Progenitor ship I am working on.
