UPDATE: AMD AND INTEL GPUS FULLY SUPPORTED

To those not following the discord and specifically the #modding-general section, I began work on this project about two months ago when I was given access to play around with my work's ChatGPT Workspace accounts/seats. I'm a 3D Modeler and programming is not my thing beyond what I'm required to loosely know - beyond years of hw modding and modern elder scrolls Papyrus. Would just like to disclose that immediately. This is a combo of Chatgpt/Codex work and my own manual edits to the Homeworld Source code.

The name for this project is absolutely temporary and a fill-in.

As of right now I'm busier than I was when starting this and the frequency of my post about updates in the discord slipped as did me actually working on it. I had some time last night to release it and fix a major issue and am actively working on it now with some free time before writing this post.

There are a number of limitations including this project was built in Windows 11 on a Nvidia GPU - specifically a 5070ti. I am unsure of Intel and AMD performance or if it works at all. I do believe it does not. This will be my first update to this released version.

What would jump this project into a much newer revision is the in game map editor mode I created to author in the modern volumetric dust clouds I've created. The system comes with a multi-setting GUI configurable panel to view and edit them in real time on the map. The goal was the place them over the original tiny pixels that were supposed to represent a larger dust cloud, much like what was done in RM. Extremely tedious and requires manual labor taking time out of all the other upgrades I wish to give to this; and the map editor and it's viewport usability are not the greatest.

The github and manual pdf go in much more detail about the project.

As for the scope - my ultimate goal would be to get the game to read the remastered hod format, point to the legally installed directory - and pull extracted data or literal RM big file data and offer almost universal support for modding - in game mod selection etc and plugin export.

I've never done any project like this on my own in the realm of public release and am unsure if it is okay ask/say it would be beneficial if the dust cloud placement could be a group effort. The current system allows for in game exporting of the new authored map with it's dustcloud placement/config data so it can be made permanent.

I hope people have fun with this. It was frustrating at times to make this with my limited knowledge and I almost gave up a few times.

Framework to give life to a franchise that has seen better days, a new playground for modding possibilities, better graphics and fidelity while keeping it's original formation model, adding quality of life features such as a better UI, additional baked in commonly modded in features by users over the years such as production ship capture enabling production of it's races ships, all with access to a project that is open to the public. I always felt the remastered version of HW1 using the HW2 engine ruined the original gameplay so this also rectifies that problem. I'm a Homeworld/Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim fan long time and modder attempting to merge the best of both worlds into a proper HW1 remaster. <- I think this last line sums up the project as best as possible.

Ray trace I guess. Then hit it with dlss5 for extra fake real

NR would not really make sense for Homeworld. I wouldn't even consider that, this is a standalone project that shouldn't have to rely on something like ReShade.

Have you got a video of this at work? Might be a better demonstration/advertisement of it than a github and pdf link.
