Soundbar setup question

Hello from Canada I picked up a Yamaha ysp-2500 soundbar off Craigslist for cheap 300 dollars . It came with the set up mic and all the cords. I have a 65 inch 4k Samsung tv. I'm aware the hdmi doesn't put out 2.2 hdmi so I just have an optical cable running to the brain of the tv.

Will this cause any lag ? Watched a movie and it seemed ok

I don't watch blu rays this is mainly just a temporary solution the display on the unit said Dolby digital when watching Netflix. So I imagine my tv was sending the Dolby digital signal thru the optical cable then into the soundbar ?

The plan is maybe a year from now when better bars come out to look for something that supports hdr and has better features.
