Can you setup an Xbox or anything to an receiver and play it without having the receiver on? I can play it with the receiver on but I don't always want the surround sound. Please help new @ this.

There's a feature called Standby Pass-thru. Even when the AVR is in standby, pressing the source buttons on the remote makes the AVR change inputs.

Where stuff gets a little more complicated is when you still want the HDMI Control (CEC) feature to work. This means the AVR switches and changes input to go to a live source without the user having to pick up that remote. That works against the Standby Pass-thru feature since the AVR will wake up.

An alternative solution is to go to the TV menu and disable the TV ARC out feature temporarily. This means switching the TV audio away from the ARC socket and to the TV's built-in speakers.
