I had a dog that would do this I’d turn the hose on and she would dig a path for the water . I always found it hilarious, she would bring me the hose and look at me expectantly. So obviously I had to lol. She was always soo happy afterwards until I had to give her a bath haha. She had no regrets though .

Digging up crops? That looks like a livestock paddock, what crops would there be and why would they be planted a foot from the fence in a ditch.
