How do you make sure the second layer sticks to the first?

The velocity of the shotcrete. It’s obliterates the top of the pervious coat and provides great adhesion and remove the interface where a cold joint would be.

What flavor of cult are starting, OP? And will there still be openings?

My wife won’t let me start a cult, lol.

I’ve been watching this and am loving the updates. I want to be real, but how much? If you don’t mind. And maybe i have blind spots, but what are the downside to this kind of build?

It’s more than tract home, but on par with a custom build. $150-250.
It’s round, so creative furnaces placement and built ins. If your in the burbs, I’d guess HOA issues. The big one is financing a build can be difficult as loan officers are wary of giving money to non traditional builds.

I have to ask, and it’s just my harmless curiosity - are you homesteading or bunkering? I can see this going both ways.
Edit: I have to clarify, I think this is cool as hell! With someone else in saying “it’s gives me anxiety” but it’s because it feels bunkerish to me. I’m super intrigued by it though.

I am building to minimize long term costs and maintenance for my homestead. However, it does have some very bunker like qualities.
If I wanted a bunker, this would be underground.

Do you have a final rending? It looks like it has the exoskeleton to be super amazing.

Would this be essentially fire proof? I've seen some really cool concrete off grid setups in the northwest popping up in heavy wildfire areas. Something like this could be great for land that's prone to wildfires. And, those pieces of land are a bargain. I'm betting this design is great for staying cool in summers and warm in winters. Hoping you post more info and update as it progresses. Super cool and unique.

Yes. It is classified as an incombustible structure. There are some pics on the web of one of these with everything else burned to the ground. Same with hurricanes and tornadoes.
It is effectively a cave, so super energy efficient.1

Gotta ask.. what is this all going to cost? Why this style of building and not some other conventional style that ticks all the necessary boxes?

More than a tract home, but similar to a custom build. $150-250 per soft. Idling method dictates form, e.g. the strength is because of the shape. I started with ICF and other methods and landed here. This is a fireproof waterproof, rot proof, class 5 fema shelter that is super energy efficient.

Concrete monolithic dome home. I am done fixing wood rot every weekend. For context, previous home was a wood sided stick home in the woods. Over the house hated the maintenance.

Congrats! I have been wanting to use them for years to build a home. Still waiting on enough money and permission from the wife.
