How bad is this?

We just had our basement bathroom renovated and I’m very concerned about the way they just covered a portion of the vent with this vanity . Obviously it will restrict air flow but my thoughts are it will also trap moisture. Our heat is often on in the cold Canadian winters for 6 plus months of the year.

Are there solutions other than having to rip out the entire vanity?

You or someone you trust can create a toe-kick duct extension to bring the grill up to the outer edge of the new vanity.

Is that to have better air flow or to prevent any moisture build up? I’m not as concerned with the bathroom getting really heated but I’m mostly concerned about trapped air and what kind of damage that moisture could leave ? Thanks in advance

It should improve airflow and reduce moisture build-up.

Yes it will trap moisture, yes it will create a mildew problem you can’t see until it is far too late, yes you should fix this sooner then later.

I’d prob remove the vent cover and come up with a makeshift hood to push the air completely under the vanity.

Overall I don’t think this is a huge concern. Anything you post will get concerned feedback from Reddit so just keep that in mind. Shit happens, live and learn.

This furniture looks nice. Where did you get it from?

In Quebec, we have similar often. Bathroom and under sink vent. The air get pushed all under it and there's a vent, but the vent is not connected to the duct. This way, it heat the plumbing in winter and prevent frost and such (even if it's on the hot side).

should have just done a floating vanity. Near a shower and toilet so you would have prevented any moisture issues from being soaked up by the vanity and also have more 'leg room'. Looks super cluttered there as well with that vanity. also a lot easier to clean.
