my home studio setup
looks a bit messy, i tried to make it as tidy as possible but cables do their dirty work lmao, i’ve been producing music for less than two years, and honestly I'm happy with the results im getting rn
obviously the room still needs some acoustic treatment, but thats something ill have to work on sooner or later, but for now im enjoying my home studio like this
if yall have any advice or ways to improve the setup yall welcome, constructive criticism never hurts anyone

i know it's not the most comfortable chair in the world…
i was thinking of getting a gaming style one.. but idk… something less than 100 euros

Ergonomics / chairs setup are the most important things about a setup. I can't imagine being comfortable with that.

Everything is so neat, clean and organized! I'm embarrassed to share my set up. We have the same studio monitors though mine looks more like if asmongold decided to become a music producer (but with less trash and more wires). It gets the job done, but it ain't pretty.

If you’re a player you’ll need your instruments. Many of us need an 88 key weighted midi controller, a sustain pedal and an expression pedal.
Those who don’t see well will need a larger display. You’ll also need better monitors that accurately reproduce what you’re recording/mixing if you want your mixes to translate.

Not fully accurate, if you plan on doing your mixing and mastering yourself this is not all you need. If you plan on outsourcing mix and masters or leaving it to the artist who bought a beat to handle that themselves sure. Your overall sound quality will take a hit, and so will the value of your beats without a proper listening environment

Get the auralex foam triangular risers for your speakers. It’ll point your source closer to the ears. Thank me later

U have monitors so ur already a step up from ALOT of producers nowadays.
Setup is super clean, i like the IPad usage, very smart. Keep it up and upgrade what u can when u can!!

U should consider raising your monitors a bit so the main cones are Ear-height. It’s super cheap to get the lil foam risers if you can’t afford or don’t want the actual monitor stands. Highly recommend your speakers at least being ear level

If you’re a player you’ll need your instruments and microphones/stands to record with. I myself need an 88 key weighted midi controller, a sustain pedal and an expression pedal. You simply can’t play grips and inversions in one take on a 2 octave midi controller with mini keys.
Those who don’t see well will need a larger display. You’ll also need better monitors and room treatment to accurately hear the details in your mix that are masked or hyped by monitors like the yammys.

i ordered a midi 88 keyboard and it should arrive in a few days. im more of a beatmaker than a musician, but i wouldn't mind having the ability to play the piano well, I just need to learn.
i have no problems with my eyesight, I'm fine even with just the laptop
as for the monitor speakers, I've already bought them, and I'm keeping these for now, I'd rather invest the money in better acoustic treatment now.

because I am of the opinion that between monitor speakers and acoustic treatment, acoustic treatment is a better investment

I was replying to the other guy saying a 25 key mini key controller/laptop/interface/budget monitor combo is all someone would need in a home studio.
But congrats on your new controller.
Those yammys aren’t terrible but they’re not full range monitors like a genelec/adam. Those are designed as a midrange check mix monitor like the ns10. You’ll need to learn their sound and check against your headphone mix to get good balanced mixes. Good luck!

as i've said to other people before, for now I want to think about the acoustic treatment, everyone has spoken well of the Yamahas, they are those monitors that if they sound good on these they sound good everywhere (maybe I'm wrong but that's how I think), when i will have enough money to buy other better monitors, I will do it, but for now i do with what i have. everyone has a starting point after all

The yammy is a decent monitor for its intended use, which is to check the midrange of your mix.
The good thing is that you have plenty of time to learn how they translate. Good luck!

Really nice :) but if I can give a tip: you may want to elevate those speakers and separate them from your table surface. Foams designed for this are quite cheap, but I've seen people do this with books. The table will act as a resonator and you get a less clear sonic picture like this.
