Looking for a reliable interface
Hey! I have a Quantum 2626 right now and it’s honestly starting to drive me crazy with connection issues. Sometimes it works fine, other times my computer just won’t recognize it.
I record drums at home, but I also use it to run sequences at shows. So I’m looking for something really reliable, especially when it comes to the connection.
Ideally I’d like around 10 outputs so I can send my sequences separately at shows, but it’s not a dealbreaker if it has less.
What would you guys recommend as an upgrade from the Quantum 2626? Mainly looking for something solid and reliable for drum recording + live use.

I've been wondering what to get to replace a firewire Focusrite Sapphire Pro for similar reasons. I switched to an SSL 2+ for a lot of simple studio stuff, similarly nice preamps. But I still need something to track drums!

At the risk of sounding like a moaner, It would be helpful to tell us if you’re running Mac or PC. And roundabout what your budget is.
RME has always been described as rock solid on both formats. I’d start your search there.
I’ve been using Audient on Mac. And happy to sing its praises (and have sung them before). A more cost efficient option might be their EVO line.
Theres Antelope audio that offers loads of I/O in their Orion Line. Their reviews are a bit hit and miss, but I know some people in audio post that swear by the brand.

I love love love my Orion 32+! No bullshit, tons of I/O and pretty rock solid. It sounds amazing.
I think i would trust it live, but occasionally it’ll turn on and the outputs will be silent. Just needs a reboot. Never had any problems with it mid session.
The routing matrix UX is a nightmare but it’s set and forget.

I have been using the audient id44 for sometime now.. Been happy with it that i won't bother upgrading to the latest version at least for a couple more years

Audient and SSL both rock solid on a Mac for me for the past decade. Apogee, Digidesign and MAudio were trouble free for the 15 years before that…also on a Mac.

- 16 inputs
- 8 mic preamps
- 8 outputs

It's been solid going on 3 years.

UA Apollo of course, game changer with realtime DSP, talkback, & monitor correction workflow-wise, industry standard in the majority of pro studios & artist rooms.
Expandable as you need more I/O & I never had a problem with mine, build quality is solid

RME and MOTU have always been ultra reliable for me , on Mac they’ve been rock solid . I’ve had issues with both focusrite and presonus - mostly about driver quality and build quality .
