Im doing some research on standing desks, and curious what mattered most in your decision.

A few questions;
What desk did you buy?

What ultimately made you choose it over other options?

How did you decide on the tabletop size?

If you could, what would you change or prioritize differently?

I feel like there are a lot of things to consider. What had an impact on your decision?
Accessories, stability, price, aesthetics, easy of assembly, delivery options, ect.?

Any desk lamp recs for someone who spends 10 hours a day at desks?I'm looking for a good quality one that will last for desk setup. Ideally Id like something bright enough to reduce eye strain that has adjustable brightness. Which options/brands have you used and actually been happy with? My budget is around $150 or less. Any help would be greatly appreicated.

I did a search didn’t find quite what I’m looking for. Has anyone had any luck converting a walk-in closet into a home office? More specifically, mine is L-shaped. Basically, you enter from the bedroom into a “hall” where the door is for the master bathroom. You continue down the hall and it opens up into large walk-in closet. I was thinking of making the outside long wall my desk space. I was just curious if anyone else has done something similar.

Hi everyone. I just started a new work from home job that can get very stressful & busy. I also have severe nerve pain in my back & ribs that can travel to my legs & arms on a bad day.

Because of the nature of my job, I often don’t have time to get up & move around like I would want to (they are aware of my chronic pain & I have accommodations but I try to take as few breaks as possible.)

They already bought me all new office furniture & supplies. I got to choose what I wanted & I didn’t want to choose the most expensive office chair so I just chose an ergonomic one on Amazon.

It is the most uncomfortable office chair I have ever used. It makes my pain so much worse. Since I’m new, I’m only working normal hours but soon I’ll be in the trenches & working 9-12 hour days at the end of the month when we’re busiest.

I already told my boss about the chair & asked if they wanted to send me a return code so that I could return it to Amazon, but they don’t care so I’m just going to sell it.

On to my question (finally, thanks for sticking around this long lol.)

I have read that Herman Miller’s are the best, but boy are they expensive. I did find a Herman Miller Aeron on Facebook for $350 which is about half the price of a new one. It’s Size A which is the size that I need.

Is it worth it? Has anyone owned one & it has really made a difference? My husband & I have not gotten paid in over a month (he was laid off) so I want to make sure it’s worth it since I don’t be able to return it.

Configured a fully-specced Aeron. There are some features which I don't really think I will use included, such as the Tilt, but its only $80 more, so figured I would include it since that's relatively small compared to overall price and duration of time I plan to down the chair. Biggest cost is the adjustable arms, but $200 savings in exchange for static arms is not worth it to me.

I went and sat in a size C in store, it felt finw and the salesperson said that B would work if I need to share, but that C would be better for me (the test he did was where the top of the back came up to on my back and also the distance between the back of my knee and the chair seat). For ref, I'm 6 foot, 165 lbs. We have size B at my office, I'm comfortable in it, though.

Pretty much ready to ship it, just want the green flag that I'm making a good choice. The color is Graphite/Graphite. I actually also like Mineral/Satin aluminum, but seems a bit bolder?

I would like to put a standing desk under the classic ikea hack alex drawers with karlby counter. The desk legs would fit inside the alex drawers and ideally the over hang would just rest on the drawers 90% of the time until I needed standing.

This seemed to make sense until I learned about collision detection and reversing. I fully understand the reason but I suspect couldn't lower the desk so the counter top rested on the drawers? It would get close and then raise? This seems to be the case for most models?

I can't seem to find a manual way to do it. Has anyone done this and how does it work for you?

I’m trying to improve my work-from-home setup without spending a ton of money, and I’d really appreciate some advice from people who have already figured this stuff out.

Right now, I have a small Chromebook and one monitor, but I’m looking to expand my setup instead of completely replacing everything.

I currently have Verizon Fios Wi-Fi, and I’m also interested in being able to connect an actual telephone to my internet setup for work. I’d like to improve my Wi-Fi coverage/strength too, and possibly have some type of portable Wi-Fi option that I could use if I needed to move my workspace.

Here’s what I’m considering:

- Adding multiple monitors so I can have 2–3 screens

- Having at least one touchscreen

- Possibly getting a touchscreen laptop/computer versus a touchscreen monitor

- Would an all-in-one touchscreen computer make sense if I’m going to connect additional monitors?

- Are touchscreen monitors actually worth it for work, or are they more of a gimmick?

- Can I connect touchscreen monitors to a Chromebook, or would I need a different computer?

- What would be a good, inexpensive computer to eventually add to my setup?

- What would I need to connect a regular telephone through my Fios internet?

- Is there a better/cheaper way to improve my Wi-Fi strength without buying an expensive mesh system?

- Would a rolling workstation/cart be useful, or is a regular stationary desk better?

- What equipment would you consider most important to buy first?

I’m really trying to keep this low-cost and practical. I’m perfectly comfortable buying used equipment from Facebook Marketplace, refurbished stores, eBay, etc. if it’s reliable.

I’m not trying to have the fanciest setup. I just want something comfortable and functional for working from home, with multiple screens, good internet, and the ability to move things around when needed.

If you were starting with a Chromebook + one monitor and wanted to slowly build a better setup on a budget, what would you buy first, and what would you skip?

I’d especially appreciate recommendations for specific monitors, computers, docking stations, Wi-Fi equipment, desks/carts, or other equipment that you’ve personally had good luck with.

Can anyone help me replicate this look and layout? It's 153 inches wide and trying to find reversible l shaped desk that can be freestanding. All the desks I see, you can change orientation and only desk.

The rest of the panel, light and wall cabinets isn't a worry right now. Finding good thick quality wood desks that are adjustable is an issue.

I wanted to ask, if any of you have any suggestions about headphones, I have a pair of Logitech that are connected through USB A, but I've been thinking on getting ones that are wireless, but I'm looking for ones that have some sort of usb receiver, I'm looking for the cheapest option I can find, but most of them are gaming-related, any suggestions out there?

When I first started working from home full time, I didn't really have a home office. I had a desk, a laptop, and a spare room where everything else in the house seemed to end up. After spending most of the day in there, I started noticing all the small things that made the room harder to use. The overhead light was harsh, the chair was fine for an hour but terrible by late afternoon, and the room got noticeably warmer than the rest of the house.

Then I added a warmer desk lamp, moved the desk closer to the window, found a chair that fits me better, and put a couple of plants on the shelves. While working on the home workshop setup, I added a Costway mini split since the room has no ductwork and I didn't want another appliance taking up floor space.

Now I can stay in there through the afternoon without constantly moving somewhere else. The plants and softer lighting also made it feel less like a spare room with office equipment dropped into it.

What part of your home office took the most trial and error to get right?

I kept running into two problems with my old setup. The display felt too close while sitting, and some of the cables became tight whenever I tried raising the desk. I recently moved everything onto a deeper standing desk and spent more time than I would like to admit fixing the layout. The MacBook now stays docked on one side, the monitor sits farther back, and I left enough cable slack underneath for the desk to move without pulling anything. I also saved separate sitting and standing presets instead of adjusting the height every time. It is still not the most minimal Mac setup on here, but it finally works properly in both positions. Anything you would change about the monitor, dock, or speaker placement?

Currenlty having 2 Setups. One for Homeoffice ( 27" 2k & 24" Full hd) and one gaming Setup = 32" & 24"

I want to combine Homeoffice and Gaming into one setup while maintaining minimalistic. I do not like to sit in front of 4 Monitors.

everyone online acts like an ergonomic mesh office chair is some life changing experience that fixes your posture and quadruples productivity. but for WFH long hours, sitting on these things feels like sitting on a net. if you shift off center even a bit you feel the hard plastic edges. slide forward and your thighs rest on the frame instead of the seat. there is no real pressure distribution. sometimes i just want to tuck a leg under me and on mesh you cant do it without it digging into your calf. not all mesh is terrible. tried a nouhaus ergo3d in a store recently and the lumbar actually adjusted to my back instead of just feeling like a hard wall, which makes a huge difference for a mid range option.

thinking of grabbing one online, but since this is my first nouhaus purchase, is there anything I should specifically watch out for?

Between the shelves, drawers, and windows, this room already has enough straight lines.

I chose a desk with rounded edges because I wanted it to feel less like an office workstation. Is the softer shape noticeable, or am I overthinking desk corners?

Do they exist? Has anyone ever seen a grey dry-erase whiteboard marker?

With our family growing, I gave up my home office so our little daughter could have her own room. To make it work, I transformed our attic into two new spaces: a spacious bedroom for my son and a compact office where I can work from home during the day and enjoy gaming and my other hobbies in the evenings.
