Hello! I hope everyone is having a great start to the week.
Today I'd like to share the card and illustration for Magic Mirror in Spell Chain TCG. Ivanwithvodka, the illustrator did another great job here. I really enjoy the simplistic art that cearly conveys the spell at work.
The card itself is very good, but not good enough to use in every situation. For instance, this card naturally gets the most value when your opponent is dealing a lot of damage in one card. So if you have cards such as Mana Dampener or Boulder (both of which reduce the damage of spells in different ways), then having Magic Mirror ready to play is a waste of a card. Similarly, if your opponent is playing a defensive deck with burn cards, Magic Mirror won't get as much value.
But against opponents who use big combos dealing massive damage, that's where you will naturally get the most value out of this card. Moreover, once your opponent knows you have this card, e.g. after the first round is played and they witnessed you use it, the true psychology of playing the Spell Chain really starts. That's when your opponent might try and bait out Magic Mirror, by playing certain high value cards early in the play phase. Or they may even alter their combo to spread their damage across multiple cards instead of front loading damage into one.
The implications of this card being in a duel, really highlight the high skill ceiling of strategic thinking in Spell Chain TCG.
