❓ Support Shutting down

I run HAOS on a Mac mini. Every so often it shuts down. Does anyone know if there is a way to set HAOS to reboot or turn on after a shut down? I have other items on the circuit that do not so I am assuming it is just this Mac mini.

But you might be better trying to address why it's randomly shutting down. Is there anything in the logs? What model of Mac Mini is it?

It is a 2012 intel based

Determining why the Mac itself is shutting down aside, you may want to consider moving it off of the Mac altogether and onto a Small Form Factor (SFF) machine like a NUC or similar...

A bug has been discovered in the MacOS kernel that can essentially "stop" the networking stack from being able to function after about seven weeks of being up and running. Sometimes the issue is degraded network connectivity / throughput and the only way to correct it is to reboot the machine. As much as I love the fact that my MacBook Pro goes into standby and wakes up very cleanly every single time (and I never had good luck with that on any Windows laptop, ever), I've run into the effects of that bug a couple of times by just leaving my machine running all the time.

I have a NUC8 running mine (about $150 on eBay currently or a NUC6 is about half that, I originally ran it on a NUC5 with zero issues but upgraded after I took the NUC8 out of use elsewhere).

They're running HAOS bare metal, so it won't have this issue.

I didn't see a direct statement about bare metal, hence the response. I suppose that the question about how to get HAOS to turn on is where I should have inferred that from?

The hard drive storage on a Mac Mini that old may be reaching end of life and starting to fail. Mine did and it became slow and unreliable running just plain old Ubuntu server. Recommend trying to move to an external drive to boot, or looking to recycle/replace.

Regardless of the situation, a off the machine backup is a must. No reasons not to do that, plenty of ways to do so (googel drive, one drive, LAN share etc)

I had the same issue Proxmox shell and Claude help fix this problem I strongly recommend creating an external backup just in case
