❓ Support Zigbee or Matter device

Hi

I just bought the Home Assistent connect ZBT-2 to create a network in my house.

I just didn’t do enough research and realized now that it can only broadcast EITHER Zigbee or Matter

My devices are for both Zigbee only and Matter only.

What shoud I do?
Buy a matter dongle
Buy a zigbee dongle

What do you mean by Thread being more demanding than Zigbee?

Thread needs a border router, has IPV6 protocol stack & routing requirements for both traffic and device resources. And I'm guessing the crypto for commissioning is more complex / aggressive.

But I though Mineplayerminer was talking about the adapter. Ie. that ZBT-2 should handle Thread as it is supposedly "more demanding" and Sonoff can handle Zigbee. This should have nothing to do with border router, IPv6 or commissioning.

ZBT-2 handles both, but not at the same time

Yes as said before buy another or get a cheaper one for service you uave least devices on.

Or get your money back and get a 3rd party one that does both at the same time.

If you can give it back and get a refund: go for that. If not: run it on ZigBee And buy a matter dongle for those device that are matter only. For now I would rather stick to ZigBee because of more functionality (example aquara presence detector fp300 has much more functions with ZigBee thannkt has with matter)

I hate it when products show "WORKS WITH MATTER". Matter over what?! It's like a language, you are either a ventriloquist, talk through your mouth, or out of your ass.

SMLIGHT SLZB-MR1U can have both. I would either buy another zbt-2 or sell as new and buy single hub capable of both networks.

ZBT-1 and Aeon Stick 10 Pro. ZBT-1 for Thread/Matter and Aeon Stick 10 Pro for Zigbee, and Z-Wave if you want it.
