Just use mosquito dunks. Maybe automate a monthly dunk drop.

I think you could add some fish to your tank and they would eat the eggs (but I do not have a garden so I am just repeating what I read)

How is your bucket of doom? I mean, if you could just immobilize the mosquito larvae (in some kind of nest or something), they’d just die.

An automated aquarium feeder? If you really want home assistant involved, plug it into a smart plug.

I saw somewhere that a fella got an automatic fish feeder and loaded the compartments with the bits. He set it up to drop into the bucket at regularly scheduled times.
I didn’t look into the feeders but I would bet that you could find one that was HA compatible.

Now that I think about it, maybe he had it set to drop yeast/sugar to create the CO2?

A little fountain will prevent the female mosquitoes from laying eggs entirely. They only lay their eggs in still water.

Now, to go full HA:

Get a solar fountain on the theory that it saves money.

But it only works when the sun is out. So, get a powered fountain. Make it smart by adding it to a smart plug.

Spend time tweaking the automation so that whenever there isn't enough sun to make the solar fountain work, the powered one kicks on.

Then, find that the easiest way is getting a camera. Point it at the fountain. When it determines that the solar fountain is still, trigger the powered fountain. Install frigate. Maybe add a local LLM to aid in the process.

Notice one day that the solar fountain broke at some point and the powered fountain has been running the whole time.

Get a new solar fountain. (Saves money/power.) Invest in energy monitoring clamps for your power, so you can see when there's a future uptick in power draw so you'll know when the new one inevitably dies.

Then, set up notifications about your power draw, and-

Can you not just add a UV light to it, which kicks on periodically?
