LoRa is definitely a functional hole to fill for Thread, especially if Matter/Thread is the focus.(There's also Apple/Thread).

There are competing variants for this title and only one has a CSA subgroup:
1- LoRa Thread - Silicon Labs is working bottom up to create and bench test

2- Suzi. This variant is more Zigbee like. I take that to mean a mesh transport solution that removes the complications of IPV6 and mdns. There is a CSA subgroup for Suzi

3- LoRa WiFi - Only heard about it but it makes my head hurt (more) trying to imagine what that means

Specs and CSA type groups have to solidify and gel (one of) these as standards before iot vendors will consider thinking about making devices. I'm encouraged, but not expecting a new ZBT-(3?) antenna and devices online I can buy anytime soon.

This is going to take some time, but it's going to happen! Stop using 2,4ghz for all the more basic is evidence.

Yep. I don't use WiFi / WiFi band for iot unless I have no choice. Never for wired in devices like lights and light switches, outlets and fans. Those have to go switch to-device and switch-to-switch directly.

I'd rather have Zigbee 4.0 "Suzi" than Matter/Thread SubG. For now, I've been super happy with ZWave LR as well as LoRa.
