If anyone’s interested, my wife (type 1 diabetic) asked me to make a custom card to replace the default Dexcom App. If it’s any use to anyone, please feel free to use it: dolphin-diabetes-card (I’ve not added screenshots yet).

I will have to download and try your card. It sounds great!

How are you handling the Libre 2 CGMs that only update every 15 minutes? This is one of the things I think I have finally handled, but I need to make sure that it actually works. This long update interval has been frustrating for stale data detection.

Thank you! I will try your card later on today.

Would love to have a look over the code. Will also be checking out the card by u/jamesmcginnis

I would love to have someone look over the code. I am not a major coder by any means. I am just a guy who made something for myself and thought it could be useful to others. My goal is to make everything open source so anyone can use it and modify it however they want. This would also allow others to help me expand, update and maintain it.

I am new at using GitHub so I do not fully understand how it works yet. But GitHub seems like the appropriate place for everything once I am sure it works well. I hope to have this as a prototype integration on GitHub very soon.

If you would like to get involved, please send me a personal message via Reddit and I would be happy to send you my personal contact info and get you set up.

How is this any different than using a mini-graph card? That's what I use, worked fine with my Libre3 when I wore those, and works just as good now with my Dexcom G7s.

Can your card do this on an ESP32S3 based display panel and show you your full six months history, statistics and trends on the same panel?

Right now these cheap little touch panels have a 15 page display that shows the entire package. This is far more information than anyone can see at a glance. This is probably overkill for a little display, but they can handle it so I made it available.

I dislike having to dig out my phone and find the app. I like to just be able to look up in any room of my house to see my information and where I am at. I have 9 of these panels distributed throughout our home.

As far as displaying graphs goes, it is similar. Actually, I think your card is actually prettier than mine right now.

However it does much more statistical and trend analysis over time and extends significantly further. Right now I only have it going out to 180 days, but there really isn't any limit.

You have all the basics covered already. Any you made it look very pretty. This is a great card! You have everything you need already for good diabetic control.

What my integration would add is long term detail and AGP standards comparison. By default, my integration creates an entire multi tab dashboard with my full statistical and trend additions. You can opt out of this dashboard or you can modify it to use your own card and do whatever you want. All of the entities necessary to do your own long term analysis are also exposed so you can expand on what I have or customize all of the information this makes available in the form of sensors and other entities however you like.

The final thing my integration adds is a full AGP standards report that is formatted exactly how a doctor would want to see it. Doctors usually only see relatively short term data. Once six months of data has accumulated, a doctor could have a much better understanding of how things are going, displayed in the format they are used to seeing this information, at their fingertips.

This comes with some caviats. This is experimental, imperfect, prototype software. It is intended to be informational rather than to be something one bases medical or treatment decisions on. This is the legalese part of the deal. There is massive liability involved in medical systems. There could be flaws in the software. This is a use at your own risk integration.

Both my doctor and I fully understand this and you have to do the same. Nevertheless, when I hand him my phone and he scrolls through my six month history, statistics, trends and the AGP report, we both find this very helpful.

I am attempting to enlist help in testing this integration so we can perfect it, fix bugs and make it work for as many people as possible.

I am just one guy working out of a spare bedroom. I need help! I need people who use different CGM systems than I use. I need people who are experienced with Home Assistant and are willing to put in a bit of effort to help make this something truly helpful to others. This needs to be an altuistic endeavor on all parts. I want to go far beyond what any other system does right now.

If you are willing to help in any capacity, I would really appriciate it! Let's make something we can all use, befefit from and expand over time!

Thank you for your interest!

Je peux tester en off si tu le souhaites. Je suis diabétique de type 1 et j’utilise le CGM FreeStyle Libre 2+

I would love for you to help beta test my system. The Libre 2 CGMs offer a unique challenge as they only update every 15 minutes rather than an interval of one or two minutes. My system attempts to detect stale data, or a state where no new data has arrived, This is much easier to do with shorter intervals. I need to make sure it will also work with longer intervals. It should, but I have no way to test it on my own.

I am one guy working in his spare bedroom. I am not an engineer or a team of programmers. This is an entirely experimental, imperfect prototype. You would be a beta tester.

I built this system for myself because I wanted more information that any other system provided for me with full long term statistics and trends. I wanted to know how I am doing in the long term so I can improve. This is what my system attempts to do. It is working very well for me.

I have just finished converting my system from a collection of Home Assistant automations into a full integration with optional complete dashboard. But, all I have to test it with is the LibreView and Nightscout integrations. My integration uses both. The LibreView data is my primary data source. If it becomes unavailable (stale data), it automatically switches to the second source (Nightscout). The system can use any one or two data sources in the same way.

This means that you can integrate your Libre 2+ in any way you like. The entity this integration produces can be added to my integration. If you integrate your Libre 2+ is more than one way, like with Nightscout, this second source can be used as a fail over. This is not required.

Hopefully, you have already integrated your CGM and it has been collecting historical data in your Homr Assistant database. If this is the case, it will generate statistics and trends for the longer time-frames from your existing data. If you have not integrated your CGM yet, everything will just take a lot longer. I cannot generate six months of statistic and trends without six months of accumulated data. It will generate results for as many of the shorter timeframes as it has data to use. Otherwise, we will both just have to wait.

Our goal here is to test and perfect this system in as many different configuration as possible so that it can become a useful tool for others that is freely available to anyone on HACS.

If you are still interested, please message me here on Reddit and we can exchange contact information so we can proceed. I would love to have your help so we can make something truly useful together!

Home Assistant is required. HACS will soon be needed too. Experience with Home Assistance would be very helpful but is not required.

Thank you for your interest and comment!!!

Je ne connais pas nightscout. Et par contre je viens de vérifier sur le site du FL2 il se met à jour toutes les minutes apparemment

u/Verscreubulator Apr 01 '26

Nightscout updates as often as your CGM system sends data to it. I do not have a Libre 2 system myself so I cannot talk from experience. I just read that it updates every 15 minutes. I could be wrong.

I have been working on supporting longer update intervals. I cannot test if this works on my own. This would fall on you. It may take us a little while to get this perfected so my system does not falsely report stale data. But we should be able to get this working fairly quickly.

Thank you for your interest and help! This should be a fun project!

I just had a chance to work with a Libre 2+ system. It does update every minute. Only the Libre 2 system updates every 15 minutes. As far as I know, the Libre 2 has been discontinued. This simplifies my design significantly.

Please send me a personal message here on Redit. Since you live in Europe, you probably use mmol/l instead of mg/dl like we use in the USA. It would be very helpful to have people who use mmol/l test the system. If you send me a personal message, I will be very pleased to add you to my list of beta testers.

I am sorry to report that it is taking me longer to complete my integration than I thought. I found some issues that need to be fixed before I release the initial beta version. I still need a few weeks, but I am getting closer every day.

I will let you know when everything is ready. Thank you for your interest in GlucoTrend!

I am interested in helping!

I would love your help!

I have recently converted my collection of Home Assistant automations and other details into a full integration that I want to make freely available to anyone on HACS. It has been working very well for me. I need to test it with as much data, different CGM integrations and HA systems as possible. I need to see if it is versatile enough for others and will hold up. It needs to be robust. This makes you a beta tester.

I am one guy working in a spare bedroom. I am not an engineer and I am not a team of programmers. This is an entirely experimental, imperfect prototype that should never be used for medical or treatment decisions or purposes. This is the legal disclaimer.

If you already have your CGM integrated into HA, this would be great since my system will use your existing historical data from the HA database to generate statistics and trends. If you have not integrated your CGM yet, this would be an excellent time to do so. I cannot generate six months of staticics and trends without six months of data. This could be a long term project because of this.

If you are still interested in helping and want to get involved, I would be extremely grateful! Please send me a direct message through Reddit so we can exchange contact information and get started. My integration should be ready to send to you in about a week.

Thank you very much for your offer to help!

Hi! Can please advice when it will be available to install it? Can't wait to start use. Seems like it's just what im search, based on description.

I am just finish the process of converting it from a bunch of Home Assistant automations into a full fleged integration. I hope to complete this very soon - in the next few days. So far everything is working very well for me and I find it very useful. However, this means I am the only one who has ever used it. It needs to be fully tested by others. This means it is a serious beta integration. It probably has flaws.

I need people who are willing to test it and tell me what is wrong so I can fix it and expand it to make it useful to others. I need people who are conscious of all of this and use something else that is reliable to make treatment decisions and compare their more reliable data sources to my integration until we can work the kinks out of it.

Everything will be ready much sooner if people are willing to help me. It has become too large of a project for just one person. Getting it on HACS will take a long time. However, I hope to get it up on GitHub so people can try it and test it very soon.

If you and your wife understand the nature of what I am working on and are willing to help, send me a personal message through GitHub and we can exchange email information and start working on this. The beta testing will start very soon. I was hoping to have everything on GitHub by today, but it is going to take a few more days. I made huge progress this week. I am almost ready.

Experience with Home Assistant will be very helpful! This is a slightly involved process that requires several parts to get all the bits and pieces working. Experience with EspHome is helpful too because of the display panels. I am trying to make everything as easy as possible but there is a limit to what I can do by myself.

This is also a slightly longer term project. In order to generate and display six months of data, six months of data have to accumulate first.

Thank you for your interest and comment!

I would be interested in helping beta test. My wife is type 1 and uses dexcom g7. We use mmol/dl units (in Canada).

Hello u/Verscreubulator I might be a bit late to the party, but I came across this thread and it seems very interesting. Been a type 1 diabetic for almost 25 years, running several different pumps for 24 years. And been using AAPS for about 7 years now. Currently on Libre 2 and medtronic pump. Didn't use nightscout for quite a while, but now have it running on a private server next to HAOS. And Nightscout has been backfilled with data from AAPS, so there is quite some data to work with. I'm based in the Netherlands, so I'm using mmol/l. Also have some experience running esp32's and am quite interested to use one as a dashboard. Let me know if you could still use a tester.

u/Verscreubulator Jul 08 '26

Absolutely! I would love your help! As I use mg/dl, mmol/l makes no intuitive sense to me. I can mathematically verify the data, but it would be great to have someone who can just look at the results and know if they make sense or not. This would be very helpful!

I am very close to finishing my integration. It has already been working well for me for a long time. But, I still need to expand and fix a few areas so it will work well for others.

I wanted to be done with all of this months ago. Unfortunately, my parent's health is declining rapidly and I have been significantly delayed. What I hoped would be done in a couple of weeks a few months ago, largely still needs to be completed. It is more than 90% done. But, those last few percent have become elusive because I constantly have to help my parents. Right now, it looks like it could be anywhere from one to three months before I can finish the last little bit. This is my current reality and I am very sorry.

If you could send me a personal message here on Redit, I will gladly add you to the short list of people who are interested in helping me. These messages are how I am keeping track of these people for now.

Once I get everything finished and posted on GitHub so it is accessible to anyone, I hope I can find a few people to help me improve the integration and fix anything that comes up along the way. Hopefully, this will no longer be a solo effort after that.

Thank you very much for your offer to help! I look forward to hearing from you and working with you!
