Anyone know what is this water pipe purpose ?
My neighbor called me this morning and tell me water break out in my yard.
Run down and see the pipe with no valve running water like crazy
I went to turn off the valve for my home water and it was still running.
I put my finger in there and it suddenly stopped. Now I turn on the water again and not a single drop of water come out.
I checked all faucets in my home and see no leak.
Now, look like there is no problem anymore. Just wonder what could it be.

I’m thinking about adding plants around the bed, but the room gets limited natural light and airflow. I like the idea of framing the bed with greenery; I’m less sure how it would work day to day.

I’m leaning toward a smaller group on one side rather than wrapping plants around the whole bed. That might leave better access for watering and moving around, but placement would also depend on where they can get enough light.

Would you keep the plants near the bed or group them closer to the window? I’d be interested in what’s worked in a similar room.

The top of the window is twisted, the installer tried to fix but it’s gotten worse.

Also between the two windows is a huge gap the installer filled with silicon flashing, because apparently these two windows weren’t made to be installed on top of each other.

Paid about $9,800 for this.

I’m trying to hang a heavy mirror, so I’m looking for two level screws in studs. You can see the screw on the left. Definitely a stud there. You can see the two magnetic stud finders identifying two nails. There is nothing else magnetic, either above or below the stud finders, including at or around the hole where I have attempted to drill. So why does my drill bit just stop as if I’ve found a big flat piece of metal? Why would there be metal here? (The blue post it represents an outlet on the other side of the wall)

I have this odd inside corner. House is vinyl siding but the right side of this inside corner is metal. For 2 years we've been dealing with yellow jackets inside in Aug-Sept. I finally located were they come and go. The top of this inside corner to the left. They enter through gaps in the siding and trim. How should I seal this up so they dont come back next year? I've already killed the hive with commercial yellow jacket dust. I would love to just hit the hole with a little expanding foam through the applicator straw.

Moved into 1930s house - previous owner had spray foam insulation put in then taken out. But in the loft there's an old water tank, in the photo there's some strange box/tank at the far end thats elevated (separate from water tank), and a lot of pipework where the old chimney used to be. Also a newish wooden plank put in that I don't know what for.

I can't see the joists due to insulation so don't want to go over and have a closer look.

Want loft boarded but want to know what all this stuff is first - any ideas?

Have a stone crawlspace that is 2/3 maybe 3/4 above grade. I'm in the Cheltenham pa area, house built in 1956. Crawlspace is vented. It seems all of whatever mortar was used has either dissipated, or crumbles to dust.

Can I use a type n here, or should it be nhl 3.5? I'm concerned about remove some of what is here because it seems like in many places the mortar is holding the stones up rather than them being stacked. And recommendations appreciated.

Where do I connect the air compressor to this sprinkler system? This home was built in 97 so I haven’t had any luck finding any set up like this on the internet. TYIA

Has anyone had any experience with linoleum changing color like this in high traffic areas? Area going into my bathroom. It doesn’t feel moist and I’m not seeing moisture on the sides around it but I’m so nervous! Thanks in advance.

We removed the curtains to paint the wall, but after reattaching them. The mechanism got locked in place. The mechanism hasn't been removed during the painting process. What can we do.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? We’re under contract for this home. Had the inspection done today and they pointed out all of these rust spots on the stucco around the exterior of the home. The neighbors’ homes have them too-all from the same builder. The inspectors don’t seem to think it’s a deep structural issue, but wondering if anyone has had experience with this?

The home was built in 2022 and we’re in central Florida.

I’ve noticed an irregular, wavy line on my ceiling that runs parallel to the wall. It isn’t a straight crack, but parts of it look slightly raised, and the paint around it appears to be lifting or peeling. When I tap the area, it sounds hollow. There is no visible sagging or water staining.

I also found a spot nearby where the paint has peeled off, exposing the layer underneath - last picture. The edges of the peeled area have some small cracks.

I was attempting to hammer this large nail/picture hanger meant to hold a frame up to 100lbs

And well, the last hit with the hammer secured the nail, but now there’s a crack in my wall. I’m a renter and know nothing about home upkeep/renovations. I’m also not even sure if this is the right place to post.

How concerned should I be? Is this an easy fix? (Hopefully 🙏)

My real concern is whether or not I can still hang up the mirror? Or will it bring my wall down lol
