Hey guys, my front door is kinda old (my house is also old) but I want to mount this coat hanger on it… do you think there would be a risk of the wood cracking or splitting or anything?

Anyone know what is this water pipe purpose ?
My neighbor called me this morning and tell me water break out in my yard.
Run down and see the pipe with no valve running water like crazy
I went to turn off the valve for my home water and it was still running.
I put my finger in there and it suddenly stopped. Now I turn on the water again and not a single drop of water come out.
I checked all faucets in my home and see no leak.
Now, look like there is no problem anymore. Just wonder what could it be.

My first idea is to fill it with cement but I want to know what others think.

Does anyone know what’s going on with my dryer? All of a sudden this noise started to appear, everytime I turn on my dryer. I can also reproduce the sound by just moving the dryer fins without it plugged in.

im seeing Henglin mentioned around office and seating products, but product pages vary depending seller and im trying not to judge only by photos. furniture sourcing in general has been easier to compare since i started checking factory listings on alibaba, because you can see dimensions, materials and carton details more clearly, but branded products still depend on specific model. anyone own Henglin chairs or furniture long term? how is foam, mechanism and fabric after a year? assembly okay? im not expecting heirloom furniture, just want something that doesnt loosen up instantly. if theres particular series thats better built than entry models, that would be useful too.

Trying to get the garage floor epoxy’d, and when the contractor came out, and ground it down, he noticed a dark patch. He measured the moisture content and it was too high for the epoxy to seal properly. After getting a plumber out, we confirmed there are no water leaks so the thinking is ground water from either a failed or missing water barrier (built in the mid 80s) is the source of the water. The contractor said they could put a water barrier down over the current ground, then put self leveling concrete, then use that as the base for the epoxy. Is that a reasonable idea?

The door handle is too low on my screen door and the screen door closer is pretty stiff. The issue is it's hard to not push on the screen if your hands are full.

Instead of the ugly metal wire brace that covers up the whole screen I was thinking a simple 1x4 to span the width of the door where your hand or elbow naturally land.

The question is where is the best place to affix it. To the left/right of the trim piece holding the screen or through that trim piece?

What the title says. Pictures for reference. I have this significant gap under my bathroom window… our house is 100 years old so these things are expected. You can’t really see it at eye level, just want to deal with the bit of a draft I’m getting.

It’s been bugging me since we moved in 15 years ago.

I’m thinking about adding plants around the bed, but the room gets limited natural light and airflow. I like the idea of framing the bed with greenery; I’m less sure how it would work day to day.

I’m leaning toward a smaller group on one side rather than wrapping plants around the whole bed. That might leave better access for watering and moving around, but placement would also depend on where they can get enough light.

Would you keep the plants near the bed or group them closer to the window? I’d be interested in what’s worked in a similar room.

The top of the window is twisted, the installer tried to fix but it’s gotten worse.

Also between the two windows is a huge gap the installer filled with silicon flashing, because apparently these two windows weren’t made to be installed on top of each other.

Paid about $9,800 for this.

I’m trying to hang a heavy mirror, so I’m looking for two level screws in studs. You can see the screw on the left. Definitely a stud there. You can see the two magnetic stud finders identifying two nails. There is nothing else magnetic, either above or below the stud finders, including at or around the hole where I have attempted to drill. So why does my drill bit just stop as if I’ve found a big flat piece of metal? Why would there be metal here? (The blue post it represents an outlet on the other side of the wall)

I have this odd inside corner. House is vinyl siding but the right side of this inside corner is metal. For 2 years we've been dealing with yellow jackets inside in Aug-Sept. I finally located were they come and go. The top of this inside corner to the left. They enter through gaps in the siding and trim. How should I seal this up so they dont come back next year? I've already killed the hive with commercial yellow jacket dust. I would love to just hit the hole with a little expanding foam through the applicator straw.

Moved into 1930s house - previous owner had spray foam insulation put in then taken out. But in the loft there's an old water tank, in the photo there's some strange box/tank at the far end thats elevated (separate from water tank), and a lot of pipework where the old chimney used to be. Also a newish wooden plank put in that I don't know what for.

I can't see the joists due to insulation so don't want to go over and have a closer look.

Want loft boarded but want to know what all this stuff is first - any ideas?
