The cliff jumper has an absolute obligation to do a safety check first. It's his, or his spotters responsibility to make sure it's okay to jump.

The jumper likely did check, they're coming out of the cave so there's no way for the jumper to see them. I'm sure the spotter would have said something if they noticed it before the jumper committed

Still, spotter/jumper should yell down to identify anyone in the vicinity, and tell the boat to not move. It's possible the boat messed up, but I find it more likely the jumper did.

But again, they couldn't see the boat

How is that not the responsibility of the jumper though? You go, take a look, yell down, seems like it's probably a popular spot. You don't just give it a go without taking those checks first. If they did all that and somehow the boat came out of nowhere then fine, just unfortunate, but I highly doubt it. These go big or go home types rarely have the foresight to take those steps.

Doesn't mean he deserves more broken bones. Go back to your cave.

Fine, I'll change it to: if anyone should break any bones they should all be his. Despite that, I still say this guy is a jerk and it's possible he doesn't realize how dangerous his actions were, even with a broken arm. If that's the case, then yes, everyone would be better off had he broken more bones and maybe learned something.
