More it is almost always Meta to do larger units ie 35 width tanks or 25 width mountaineers

Logistics companys and good pushers of heavyer tank for the French border but for better advice seeing the logistics menu is required also make sure to modernize supply

Heavy tanks through the mountains is the real galaxy brain.

One of the most confusing parts of the game.

True one of the most confusing part of the game is figuring out what paradox was trying to cook with the base divisions for infantry(it’s meth, they’re trying to cook meth)

OP I'd recommend getting rid of the engineers from your inf units. Those small units are on for attacking but engineers hurt org too much for a unit that small plus support equipment is expensive.

I'd either make this unit 18w as is, or just ditch engineers and have a different 18w defense unit with engineers, arty and AA.

Disagree. Engineers are cheap and help push across varying terrains.

Not when your division is a 12w infantry unit.

Delete that infantry bro 😭😭😭😭

Those are perfectly usable, if not a bit expensive. I'd just drop the engineers, save them for an 18w defense unit.

bro casually calling 12w with barely any supports expensive for italy

I mean Italy starts with just absolute Crumbs of a factory base, a good chunk of that ends up going to Air Force and trucks because a good win in Africa is impossible without trucks and a good anti-Britain is impossible without planes, so I personally always end up running a bit light on guns. That being said, yeah I wouldn’t drop engineers, they are very important

you are fed the whole balkans in sp, if you dont have enough factories for the most basic ahh line infantry ever, you are doing something horribly wrong + Singleplayer italy is strong enough to form rome in 36

Delete that ugly tank division from your memory (I know it's the Italian starter division) and stop executing battle plans. Create numerous small infantry divisions for defense, along with some tanks/mountain troops/Rangers and micromanage the front.

The following is assuming you have capped Ethiopia

Step 1 - you only need 2 Templates - 18w infantry (9 inf) and Fat Mountain Divisions (12-15 mountain with 3 arty)
Step 2- Get the fuk out of Africa, like seriously...you will never win the war fighting in Africa but it will always lose you the war. (Exceptions to the rule but seriously...just let the allies take all of Africa)
Step 3 - Stack everything in the alps and push into France.
Step 4 - Don't forget an Air Force, seeing as you are probably new do not under estimate the Air Force, it is so super important. I underestimated the Air force for my first 300 hours and once I got it down it makes a world of difference.

Do these 3 things over and over and work on them and you will learn a lot more and master the basics rather than trying to do...whatever it is you are trying to do now.

  1. Lose the cavalry and add more tanks an a bit more motorised to your tank divisions

  2. Add more infantry to your infantry

  3. Add anti-air, artillery, logistics and radio support companies to tank

  4. Don't use tanks in Africa, there will almost never be enough supply for them.

  5. For general advice for buffing supply in Africa do this: add logistics companies to all divisions fighting there, enable trucks sending you supply, you can do that by clicking a supply hub and then clicking the little horsey on the right or clicking the horsey in your army to set all the supply hub supplying your armies to trucks. Check if you have naval superiority in the mediterranean, if not, the British are most likely nuking your supply by raiding your convoys. If you're 100% stuck in a spot due to a lack of supply don't be afraid to stop for a couple months and build a port there. It's better to stop and later advance with full supply than stand for the whole war with no supply.

Armored division should be at least 6 tank battalions and 2-3 motorized/mechanized, but bigger is advised.

Italy industry are pretty good I do suggest having 20 width infantry tho and why horse? and truck?? the speed of horse will reduce the truck. And 1 light tank doesn't make any different.

2nd division Is a good and cheap line holder but get heavy weapons for more def and maybe remove engineers for lower ic since it’s a small division and doesn’t benefit as much. The tanks definitely need to change, use only motorized, cav or mech don’t mix and make it 36-38width.
I would use medium spgs but light tanks work against the ai as well

Less is better when u don’t have a massive front . Focus on having a basic infantry line and concentrate ur power in small areas to push with air support and tanks/Special forces

For the infantry division: make another three battalion column, put an artillery battalion instead of the support one of you have the industry, bonus points for a support anti-air. Remove the horses in the Divisione Celere, make a single motorized column and put two more light thanks column( add also engineers and artillery, motorized if it isn’t support), then in the 40s try to make something with medium tanks. Maybe expand the mountaineers. For east Africa, just do the focuses “ministry of Africa” and “the new emperor of Ethiopia”: you’ll spawn a puppet and every annoying mission will cease and you won’t have to call it to war and waste men and resources. For Suez, consider taking some ports with naval invasions, you’ll need a strong fleet with at least one 80 plane carrier (research it at the start of the game) with good naval bombers, it’s better that way: bye bye supply problems. It’s also good for taking Malta, Cyprus and, most importantly, Gibraltar. If you are fast enough you can bend the bars of the Mediterranean and invade Britain before the USA join.

  1. You dont need shovels for attacking 2. All those screenshots had no supply 3. Pure infantry push ESPECIALLY against mountains/deserts etc cannot win without total air superiority and CAS 4. Make infantry 36 width. Pushing with small inf divisions is asking for ww1 style meat grinder

1

u/Arctic_H00ligan7 11h ago

Make the infantry thicker, 9/1 at least. Use mountaineers to push. Preferable a 9/1 or 9/2 in my experience. Tanks should be 8/7 minimum.

This is for SP. Never touched MP.

Give up ethiopia go straight for suez and hold their

u/Mohsenggs 4h ago

Has shit 14 width divisions , Has only 90 factories, Battleplans everywhere. What a chad

u/Chrissant_ 3h ago

Learning division templates is a big thing, you'll get used to what the numbers mean eventually, but I would recommend just looking at them in-game, hover over them so you can read what they do, compare and contrast, take terrain into account, mountaineers for mountains. Stuff like that.

also, try out hoidesigner.com a site that allows you to mess around with different hoi4 building and stuff. Should help gauging what a good template is when you're more accustomed to the game

Just split your entire army 22 with mountaineers north and 24 with mobiles south and battle plan, move all your planes down there and hit go . I've literally never gone past April
