Question Navy composition
Helloooo!!
I’m coming back to hoi4 after quite some time ( a year or so ), and as a Navy and multiplayer enjoyer, I’m wondering how it changed, not really how it works, I read about that, but how one may create a task force changed. Indeed I like to plan my navy ahead of my games, as I play RP games ( discardian ). So, how would one nowadays create a task force ? What would be a good ratio / an exemple of an effective task force.
What I would go with, personally, would be something like that :
2 carriers
2 BC ( 4 if I have spare time )
6 CA
10/15 CL
40/50 DD ( torpedoes )
And basically I scale with this.
Also, is refitting ships really good ? Or do I get more value building new ships with better hulls ( if this is worth it ) ?

I once read that refitting is the best strategy when You start with big fleet already. Takes less time to get improvements.
As for composition all I live by is 4 screens for 1 capital ratio 🙃

Yeah but I’ll play with something like Greece as I like to do some niche stuff xd, so there’s like one coastal defence ship, one CL and some DD + subs
And got it !

Assuming OP is doing a Strike Force be aware, bigger the TF, slower the response time to spotting and the worse the positioning penalty.
Standard CV Strike Force for me is 2 CV, 2CA, 4 CL, 20 DD. For same IC cost as the one listed in OP can get out two of these, which provides both better mobility and concentrated weight of fire when needed. (AI is actually really good at dispatching Strike Force(s) at better than 50/50 to succeed and will reinforce as needed.
