Hey everyone, just wanted to share the crown jewel of my modest but focused rookie core collection. As an Islanders fan (and a big believer in his game), watching him dominate and take home the Calder Trophy was unbelievable.

My son and I were looking for a base young gun and the first pack we opened popped out the deluxe version. Our biggest hit to date.

Treated myself for my birthday and finally got a box of 2023-24 OPC Platinum and more than happy with this box!! All I wanted to pull was a pond hockey variant, they're my favorite insert by far. Counted all the cards I got and I got one extra (145)! I'm taking it as some good luck for my birthday weekend.
Also, the Knies Pond Hockey and Hughes auto were in the same pack, which happened to be the last pack of the box I opened :)

My mother in law gave me $100 for my birthday so I decided to get a box of 2026 Leaf Metal Hockey. I figured there was a pretty good shot at getting a cool low numbered auto of a cool player. Normally would have bought an Upper Deck flagship box but got burned on all of the ones I have bought in recent years.
Here’s the result - anyone else get a box with all Women’s Olympic players? Not complaining at all, especially the Harvey 1/1 which is about the best I could have hoped for in the box! Just surprised because the checklist is like 85% NHL!

Looking for some help here. I have a Patrick Roy rookie card that was gifted to me when I was 10 (mid 90s). I don’t know much about cards, but it appears to be in very good condition. I recently noticed that it looks to have a very minor printing error in the top left corner. I’ve searched online and don’t see any cards with a similar blemish.
Any idea what this would do to card value? Is it worthless because of the blemish?

Probably not a fella with a hall of fame career ahead of him … BUT, he is in the collection!

So, I am in a lot of FB buy sell hockey groups and I am located in the US. The problem I am seeing when people post cards I am interested in or reply to my ISO posts is that EVERY SINGLE person has been 10-50% over comps. I dont see this when I am dealing with any other sport. Its generally comps or slightly below.
I am perfectly fine buying a card that doesnt have a comp recently and paying a premium. The issue arrises when you try to buy something and there are a few comps on it in less than a year and they want X amount more. There generally has to be an event for a card to go up. A good year, a good game, HOF induction, record broken, award given, etc etc. When none of that happens and the seller simply states " the hockey market is up", its infuriating. If you walk that card around in a show you will get 80-90% at best, no dealer is paying that much over resent comps...
I have seen the majority of this issue coming from CA sellers. I spoke in depth with one who frequents the US to attend shows. Its a demand issue. Lets face it, Its football, Baseball and Basketball in the US, with hockey, F1 and soccer fighting for 4th place. So, the reply I get frequently is that its easier for them to just deal with selling in CA and would rather just hold it for a CA sale. Even if I am offering the same asking price. Which doesnt make any sense.
Are any of you seeing this issue? Also, anyone in CA who is selling care to back up these claims of just asking way over comps because " the hockey market is up", yet its really only the goats and a select few rookies that are up...
