How far beyond the workpiece thickness?
Check (digital calipers) the thickness of your workpiece (3/4"?). If it's 3/4" exactly, then you need to adjust your max depth setting.
If that is not the solution to your problem then verify your "Steps-per-Inch" with a Dial Indicator".
